grover definitely implied that it was intentional. his entire interview was about how it was strange that a bunch of guys delivered it, how something felt off, etc. he wasn't saying, "i bet this pizza will just weirdly cause issues." he was saying, "these guys did something to the pizza."
It's definitely a dumb angle to try and work. Just say he ate some bad shit and got sick. Everyone can relate to that. No need to drum up any additional drama. We all saw how sick he was on the court.
They also skipped the sequence where Pippen gave Malone the line about not delivering at the FT line before MJ hit the gamewinner in 97. It was an odd omission.
Don’t really care for the fact that Jordan tried to wash over Phil is really the one who broke up the chance for 7. When Reinsdorf called Phil for another shot I wonder if he planned to bring Krause back as well?
Got a mild case of food poisoning today then tried to workout, it did not go well. I’m not Michael Jordan
Off the Grid point, not related to the Docuseries.. The Karl Malone story makes me think about the Kobe case. Is it not absolutely crazy how much shit Kobe took, and how little abuse has been given to Karl Malone? It's honestly crazy to me looking at the two cases in hindsight. You can have an opinion about Kobe one way or the other because it was dismissed. Karl Malone flat out knocked up a 13 year old when he was considered an adult and it's glossed over compared to Kobe. Just an observation...
Watching again, the Malone box out on the Jordan missed FT in the flu game is as indefensible as his character
Having Reggie and MJ playing at the same time was pretty cool in that regard. SVP was showing a video last night detailing the fact that Jordan not only hit gamewinners but hit 3 series finishers in his career. Crazy.
I dont think people knew about Malones. Happened before he even sniffed being famous, Kobe happened mid career. And we didn't live in TMZ media when Malone played and the internet wasn't even a thing for some of his career. Sort of same reason Tyreek Hill is still on the Chiefs and Kareem Hunt got cut.
I'm glad the world is getting to see my guy IHHH in rare form. As an ND fan I get this every football game.
Edit. Looks like it's been covered already but Eddie Vedder is a Chicago guy and friends with Rodman. Rodman is actually in one of their songs "Black Red Yellow." Present Tense is from No Code. It's about 24 years old at this point and one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs.
Billy Corgan was also a huge Bulls fan and frequently sitting courtside back in the day. I think someone linked the interview he had with Joe Rogan where he talked about partying with Rodman.
I'm shocked that, after a doc about Jordan where people lie about how close he was to reaching the majors, LeBron magically has a story about almost playing football during the NBA lockout back in the day.
almost finished this (its huge) its the best media piece on jordan i've ever seen and it's not particularly close. can't recommend highly enough. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29180890/michael-jordan-history-flight
How did they gloss over Malone going onto the Bulls team bus wearing bleached jeans, a black belt and tucked in t-shirt? That is his second worst crime after all the rapey stuff.
Michael Smith made a good point on Bomani’s show. Bobby Knight might’ve come out of this thing looking the best for calling MJ the goat in 1984.
Ahhh. Assumed it was this Wright Thompson piece on Jordan. http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/st...-building&page=Michael-Jordan&redirected=true
I heard Billy Packer telling a story about this time period with Knight and MJ on the Packer and Durham UNC special about MJ. He said when MJ originally showed up, Knight told Packer that the kid was incredibly athletic but couldn't shoot worth a shit, and Knight said he didn't know if his system would work with a two guard who couldn't shoot. He told Knight to just give it some time and work with the kid, and a few weeks later Knight told him "that's the best goddamn basketball player I've ever seen" and raved about MJ's work ethic and willingness to be coached.
The notion that the Pippen/1994 thing shouldn't be discussed is absurd. It's one of the biggest moments of that run. I wish they dug deeper into that year and a half without Jordan.
hence the way he looks now I can remember reading in I believe the SBNation story about his trips to Vegas he’d party all night and then be up at 6 working out like no big deal every day
