I always figured this was a southern thing to drink off of a water spigot wherever. Its not a big deal where I’m from to do that anywhere. If you are thirsty you are thirsty. Cannot contest this especially not somewhere like Georgia. Also people roll up on job sites and don’t steal shit. We used to go drink in unfinished houses all the time. I am white though so that would just be considered a liability not a crime. This is stupid lock these pieces of shit up already.
This is a good breakdown of the last few mins leading up to the shooting. I didn’t realize how much they chased him
Even if they were concerned that he may have stolen something from the property, they should have realized right away upon getting near him that he wasn't carrying anything. What could he steal of any value that wouldn't be immediately noticeable on his person? Some nails? I've worked construction and I can attest that random people walking in during the day is very common. So is finding beer bottles in the morning. The whole thing is just so absurd.
Who could have seen this coming.... Surveillance videos show multiple people had trespassed at the home Ahmaud Arbery visited. He was the only one killed https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/18/us/ahmaud-arbery-surveillance-timeline/index.html
I feel horrible for thinking he shouldn’t be yelling at the cops like that. A man of color doesn’t usually get that luxury.
That fucker would’ve tased him for nothing, he had nothing on him. and I feel horrible for thinking that he was lucky it was a taser gun and not a real one. Although it didn’t change a whole lot in the end, poor guy was ever gonna make it out of that shithole.
good grief - seems like the Feds need to take over a few police departments & DA offices down there or something
Try like 99.9% of all police departments. I'm literally in my car right now in a parking lot about to go jogging on a trail. Just fucking insane black people can't even take a break in their own vehicles.
The federal government doesn’t have the best history of protecting people of color, either. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/27/us/immigrant-children-sexual-abuse.html
If only prosecutors could file for change of venues... As long as they're sitting in a Georgia jail cell, no one's going to shank them. They'll probably be crowned kings.
Seriously, why the fuck do we need video of his arrest in a shoplifting. Sure screams to me of a PD leaking anything they can just to try to cover themselves.
I was “arrested” for shoplifting (it’s really just a citation) when I was about 13 for stealing fishing lures from Sears. Ask me any shoplifting question.
Not fishing related but a good one. So as the Sears security guy tried to stop me, I bolted past him and into the parking lot. Where we engaged in a game of tag where I dogged him and his golf cart reinforcements for about 15 minutes between cars and stuff as my friends watched. Well, reality set it because I was 13 and our ride home was our buddies dad who was coming to pick us up. After I give up and the police fill out the paperwork, my buddy is telling his dad about how I was running like crazy in the parking lot and they are laughing their asses off. His dad just said “nice work Ickey” because Ickey Woods was his favorite RB. He still calls me Ickey 30 years later.
My HS threatened to arrest me for vandalism because I wrote on a school picnic table so if y'all have any vandalism questions I'm fair game.
Seems like a strange charge, right? The guy who shot the video getting charged with murder? Hope that doesn't affect the charges against the McMichaels.
If a murder happens during the commission of a felony and you're involved, you get charged with the principal crime - if you're the getaway driver for a bank robbery and they shoot some folks inside, you're a murderer.
I know this is going to sound weird but what’s the crime that they’d be charge with? What would be the “bank robbery” in this situation? It seems like him participating (an accomplice) in the Murder is why he’d be charged not something else. I seemed to remember him blocking the guy from getting away and making him double back to where he was eventually killed.
so like I said an accessory. I could be wrong but up until the murder they hadn’t committed a crime, right? So unless I am mistaken (which I probably am) there is no underlying crime like “bank robbery” in this situation
Is following someone who didn't commit a crime while aggressively brandishing a firearm a crime? I'd think it is but I'm scared to know the answer.
in California I’d assume it is in Georgia IDK. But, you might be right and that might be the underlying crime/
I'm speaking out of turn here because my last criminal law class was approaching 2 decades ago. With that as a caveat, in this case, I would feel comfortable with the position that the McMichaels set out intending to kill or do harm to Mr. Arbery, so in that case, you don't get a lesser charge just because the ultimate felony was the murder itself. However, I think there's probable cause that this group of dipshits was going to commit at least the following felonies, even under the best circumstances - false imprisonment, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, terroristic threats/acts, and probably quite a few more.
