It is but it’s also a slippery slope, not sure why one would use the devils as an example when the oilers are the textbook example for messing up a rebuild with a ton of good picks. You still have to maintain a certain level of professionalism and accountability in the room so that your team grow into a winning team. i know you know all about this but it can be hard to understand sometimes for some people who just see the skills and don’t understand how hard it really is to win no matter how good you are.
Not sure if I am the only one but I am listening to way too many hockey podcasts right now. It’s hilarious how the former players are exactly how I thought they would be. As a side thought, the players would win by showing their personality more. But we all know how that goes
Had a panthers prospect on my podcast. During the podcast all he would talk about is how he shoots 1k pucks a day in his garage. As soon as we stopped recording he went on a deep dive into how him and his brothers were playing CoD for 10+ hours a day during quarantine. We spent 10ish min recording and 30+ shooting the shit about video games. Obviously that fortnite story from a few years ago is still on every kids mind.
these kids are robots now, i get it but I wonder how good it really is for them and the nhl. i would like for you to pm me how I can subscribe to your podcast. Nothing negative will be said, I just want to encourage it
McDavid and Crosby are incredible dial tones because they’ve obviously been coached to never say the wrong thing with the media since they were like 12 years old. I don’t think they even know how to turn it off in public, it’s like autopilot at this point.
As a Hawks fan I can say it’s absolutely despicable to watch the Wings tank. They should give all teams the same chance in the lottery this year
Team not a fan of the playoff format. And yes it’s only because if we beat Columbus we have to play Boston
Sens fans all giddy thinking the worst the team could pick is 3/4, with the best odds of moving into the 1OA. Plus NYI pick could be between 8-15. Let’s see how it shakes out first...
Part of me never wants Eugene Melnyk to have nice things, the other part of me would be really entertained by the sens coming up aces after everyone said every move they made in trades/picks the last couple years was the wrong one. (Though I, myself thought they should have handed over the Tkachuk pick and now keeping it is looking like the right move)
Nobody wants Eugene to win. Fans have suffered enough with this guy and deserve something good...but then Eugene somehow wins. I’m torn.
All this stuff seemed so far away and it changed all the time, I never paid much attention to all the proposals. Time to start read stuffs
It’s only for the qualifying play-in round, not the actual playoffs. So the top seeded teams getting a bye into the playoffs can’t find their way into the lottery.
That said, this is basically the NHL praying the middling big market teams either win their play-in round or win the lottery. Pretty shameless.
Naw, but what could happen is the Penguins and their 86 points good for 7th in the entire NHL winning the lotto.
This is a huge announcement and he’s doing it on a shitty ass web cam. They couldn’t get him anything better ? Lol
This lotto format is 100% a bone to the teams that were firmly in the playoffs having to play a play in round. Dumb as hell for a team like the Penguins to have a shot to pick #1. Also equally weighted lotto in phase 2? the fuck?
it made sense right until they made phase 2 equally weighted. Lets assume it goes chalk, there is no reason for the Panthers to have the same odds as a team like the Habs who were 7 points back with 2 more games played.
I don’t like that all the eliminated teams get an equal lottery weight. That should also be based on point percentage imo.
I am not mad as a Wings fan because nothing changed from what I expected on March 10th. I just think the second phase is dumb as constructed.
I stopped listening to all my hockey podcasts, and most of the sports pods because there was nothing to talk about and them discussing random shit was awful. Excited to get some discussions on some tangible plans/ games again
Apparently the target for 20-21 Starting is the Winter Classic. I think that would be a great starting date.
Selfishly I was looking forward to watching hockey games in October with my newborn son, but that doesn't seem realistic.
