doctor in late february told me i had the flu and didn’t even bother testing me for it. had a cough that felt like razor blades. may as well sign up and get tested
I really really wish this only applied to conservatives, but it doesn't. This is an AMERICAN problem, not just the chuds on the right.
It's weird to me that it took ten days for major corporations from "the greatest economy" ever to cry poverty. Maybe this pandemic showed people what many have been preaching, that the economy was a scam and things are far worse off than people try and tell you because such a small amount of people control all of the money. The part that makes me rage about all of this is that had Trump listened and taken proactive steps in February, the country and your precious economy would be better prepared. Instead he ignored all the signs, did nothing to address the problem and now we are at the same point three months later that we could have been in far less time. Had he started testing in March when he claimed he would people would be tested and we wouldn't be playing chicken with peoples lives to make sure people can eat and still be safe.
We gonna hit 100K deaths on Memorial Day of all days? What’s next, 200K on 4th of July? 300K on Veterans Day?
I for one agree with the walking penis whose dressed like a middle aged woman attending a country club beach themed party.
Pretty much guaranteed we'll have at least 30,000 deaths a month until we have a vaccine. So probably 140 by July 4th
Jesus. I'll take a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular group of people, Alex

Best strategy is definitely somewhere in the gigantic chasm of "lock down everything and don't leave your house until vaccine" and "fuck masks, MERICA, covid's a hoax!" I mean, going to a moderately crowded outdoor gathering/park is less safe than sitting in your house, but much less dangerous than going into a church for an hour and doing loud singing. Evaluation of risks is important. The former has a small chance of mass infections stemming from one incident and the latter is likely to be a source of a major outbreak. Can the outdoor gathering transmit an infection or two? Yes, it's not 100% safe, but it is orders of magnitude safer than a lot of indoor situations.
It's fair to understand the full impact of everything we are going through, both directly related to the virus, as well as the unintentional consequences of our attempt to limit the spread. OD and suicides have surged. If there is something we can do to stay safe from the virus and limit the number of other deaths and suffering, we should explore those. To put it in the kind of overblown, disingenuous terms I see here regularly: fuck all you drug abusers and mentally ill people, I need to be kept safe from Covid!!!!
I would probably do one outside, if both parties were masked. But I’m not going to. I care too much about the people who will visit me like my mother and father.
Covid hasn’t led to really any problems where I live, so not yet. It’s almost like covid doesn’t exist here.
Another 80 page PDF abrogating responsibility and listing bullet points of how the states need to do all the work. : https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/25/politics/trump-administration-testing-swabs/index.html Spoiler: Chaser
Someone sent me a link work like 600 physicians saying stay at home orders were pointless because suicide was up(??) and things like cancer screenings weren't able to be done. The gist is it's probably mostly specialists in those medical fields because they couldn't work.
If you take our May average testing, we fall woefully short of 12 million tests in May. They. Lie. About. Everything.
The closest I've found is a Facebook friend of mine who posted a link to some article written by Tony Robbins. I wish I was kidding.
People have lost their jobs and their homes and can't figure out how to feed their families. Of course suicide numbers will spike. The question is what would those numbers look like if the country hadn't sat stagnating doing nothing for 3+ months? The failed response is a much bigger connector to suicide than stay at home orders. Anything else is just trying to make it partisan.
I agree with your logic. But, I would like to see some hard numbers for March and April 2020, compared to the last 4-5 years.
This particular friend isn't a Robbins guy per se, but he started off as a Chuck Todd-ish "both sides bad" guy, then started following the rabbit hole involving concerns about the country turning too hard to the left. As a result, he spends the better part of his Facebook time looking for reasons why "the left" is wrong and why the media is lying to us, but without quite supporting Trump. He somehow stumbled across the Robbins article that supported his own opinion about the need to fully re-open the economy, and then tried to pass it off as "Look, even an unbiased and very educated guy like Tony Robbins recognizes the facts the media doesn't want you to know!"
