Look at where and how the cops are deploying. They are not even trying to prevent looting. They are targeting the large crowds of peaceful protestors and replying in massive numbers to dominate them. They absolutely could be patrolling the streets looking for crime instead of focusing on the protestors. They won’t stop them all for sure, but that doesn’t differ from any other night in NYC. Cops never prevent all crimes from happening. That undeniable fact is not a justification for calling in the military.
