bout to start season 3. really had no intention but even the rewatch is better than just about every new show i've binged during quarantine ...
is it widely known that Ray Cole's wake was a somewhat real wake for the producer that played him and died after season 2, Robert F. Colesberry?
Just finished the bunk/omar scene in season 3.. will always be one of my fav scenes of the series Video for those to like it as well
SIAP fans might want to read the book Clockers by Richard Price he wrote for the show and the book is pretty much all about street dealers
Got the GF to watch this one. Told her that after ~3-4 episodes she'll think it's some kinda cop show, and that after 6-7 episodes she'll love it. Was correct on both. She loves bubs. And Wallace is her favorite hopper. "Cleaning up" is the next episode we have to watch
For some reason I didn't watch this show live, which is weird since I loved Homicide:Life on the Street and Oz when they first aired, but I just finished the series last night. I haven't had time yet to go back and see how the finale was reviewed originally, but I thought it was one of the best finales I can remember. It took me probably 4 or 5 episodes of season 1 to really get into it, but fuck what a great, expansive series. I always compared it in my head to Sopranos because I so often saw those shows listed together as all time great shows on so many lists, but it's really hard to compare them. They're just totally different animals. My wife thought I would hate season 2 since it was such a big swerve, but I loved it and loved every season after that. The fact that they could weave this tapestry that involved the docks, the politicians, the schools, the newspaper industry, etc. was beyond brilliant, and there were so many great characters. I loved the last montage in particular as McNulty is looking over the city.
I also gave a fuck yeah when Slim Charles finally capped Method Man. I was waiting on him and Snoop to get it.
Rewatched episode with Wallace’s demise last night Forgot Bodie shot then Poot took the same gun and shot. Was thinking they both had guns and shot same time firing squad style. So much worse
Bodie was losing his nerve and Poot mercifully stepped in to finish him off. My wife cried when Bodie got got but I was like nah RIP Wallace.
I thought mine was going to but she went the angry route instead. Getting towards the end of Season 2 and she agrees that Ziggy is a miserable waste of screen space and that's how I know I'm going to marry this woman.
Pretty sure he tried to get the duck to suck his penis and needed it drunk all the time to consent because nobody in baltimore would do it sober
Yeah when I saw that I told my wife no fucking way that's real. So yes, I did google that shit and found definitive proof. Dude was using a prosthetic that basically tripled his dick size. In my search I discovered that he jerks off with his real unit in a movie, though. Now I know why McNulty was so tormented as a fellow great detective.
very happy to be on season 3 now in the rewatch. season 2 was lacking in Bubs screen time. probably my favorite character/arc in any TV show. first episode of S3 he comes back in with the hard feels with his "i ain't even high" speech. Also didn't tell the GF that littlefinger was a major character and I'm pretty sure at first she thought it was the actors younger brother because of how much younger he looked and because he actually uses his voice in this show instead of creepy whisper speak
This was basically my exact life last night too. I like how Marlo is briefly glimpsed in the first ep of season 3 but you wouldn’t know who he is yet
A co-worker was talking about he’s through seasons 1 and 2, so I was talking to him about season 3 and ended up watching it again over the weekend. Love the divide between Avon and Stringer as the season wears on. Appreciating Cutty more and more as well.
The police brutality in the show is horrible. Hamsterdam episode — they throw a whole group of “fiends” in the back of a wagon, spray in pepper spray and shut the door. One guy says “this is America!” and santangelo tells him “nah, this is West Baltimore”. (Great line but cringeworthy treatment)
I wish we got a better look at ol’ Terri D’Agostino when McNulty bones her. Butt naked but laying down covering her tits and rendering the ass completely flat?
Gf when Stringer was killed: "He's dead? How does the show even go on from here?" Girl....you must not know bout Marlo's crew
Girlfriend is getting way too into Bubbles playing Uncle to Sharrod. I started just giving one generic “we’ll see babe” answer to every prediction/question she has about anything after Where’s Wallace went down so I don’t give anything away. There’s definitely going to be multiple water works in the Sharrod fallout scenes and at this point most likely too when Omar gets got.
