I know it was a common theory when the first trailer dropped that Joel is dead and just in Ellie's head. But she is very much still alive.
Embargo on TLoU2 reviews is up at midnight PDT, whose going to read them and whose going into the game blind?
Going in blind. Haven't watched any of the recent videos they've released. Am curious about the scores, tho.
I'm the same, I will look at scores but that's all. I'm still hoping to get a code and play it early, not holding my breath. One of the guys at Superjump apparently got a copy from Sony so we will have a review going up at Emargo. I almost broke down and watched the State of Play deep dive, after about a minute I shut it off though
There was actually quite a few 100's, but those were the only names I recognized, lol. A few 70s in there, as well.
It’s supposedly got more perfect scores than any PS exclusive ever. Skill up apparently loathes it tho
Idk I think also got a bit of a Fantano “I’m not like every other critic” thing going on as well. Like Fantano, I enjoy his perspective, but, I’m also never gonna listen to death grips and RTJ4 was a 9.
Anthony Fantano is a fairly popular YouTube music reviewer who gave My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a 6/10 score and tends to score high random more experimental music projects. Kinda does his own thing. Like Skill Up, he’s smart and well spoken and makes good points, but sometimes he seems to be difficult for the sake of it.
Pushsquare gave it a 10 as well. I think a lot of people are going to give it shit scores because it's the hipster contrarian thing to do, and some will give it high scores for the wokeness, whatever the fuck that means. As always, I'm never going to judge a game or tell others what to think unless I've played it myself, and I don't begrudge people their opinions or their reason for them, unless it's clearly been bought one way or another.
i'm going to write a concept album called my beautiful dark twisted family thats about growing up after being adopted by a lesbian couple who are also chocolate covered pretzels
Rockstar and Naughty Dog games seemingly go into reviews as "it's a 10 until you prove me otherwise...and you really need to prove it". I think there is also a bias in the industry that if a game is vast, it gets a 10. I thought RDR2 was annoying and was terribly un-fun to play. Although it was vast and impressive. It can be both of those things and the the AAA titles come out - the first things you typically read is how impressive and vast and beautiful and cinematic the world is. Obviously all benefits of AAA budgets. LOU is in my top 5 so I'm sure I'll love this game and have had It preordered from the beginning...but the review scores we all knew the day it was announced would get a whole series of 10s.
RDR2 seems like a divisive game. For me, I enjoyed the story but by the end I was just trying to get to the end as quick as possible so I wouldn't have to actually play anymore. After so many hours the tedious things about it just annoyed the shit out of me. I never understood the hype and high scores. Then again I know people that are still playing it and doing everything there is to do. I can't fathom why but to each their own I guess.
Interview with Neil. I haven't read it yet but apparently he says the game is 25-30 hours long. I can't fucking wait. https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/the-last-of-us-part-ii-neil-druckmann-interview
RDR2 felt like the cunty "immersive story for the sake of only immersive story" game that tried too hard to only win awards and the gaming industry almost fell for it too. Thankfully God of War made enough ppl snap back to their common sense and gave a game that was actually a good *game* GOTY. To be frank, it still stole the award for soundtrack or music or w/e that category was from God of War too. That soundtrack from GoW might have been the best music in gaming since OG FF7.
I haven't pre-loaded a game before, do we know what time it will be available? I assume it's 3AM EDT, hoping for earlier.
normally its midnight, but there's a countdown for pre loaded games that tells exactly when its available
Finished my playthrough of Part I. “Okay.” Still the best ending I’ve ever played in a game lets see if I can finish Left Behind by midnight
yep just finished. While this is my second time beating TLOU I had never played Left Behind I am officially ready for the emotional abuse
alright friends. I'm going to probably stay clear of this thread for a while since I'll be finishing the game slower than most of you (not much time to play with the kids around). Been a fun wait. Enjoy.
How long until people post spoilers? I'm going to stay up till midnight01 to make sure it's downloaded, sleep, then wake up and play it all day tomorrow.
I haven't started yet but I just wanted to document a PREDICTION. I haven't seen any of the leaks so this is entirely just me putting it down before I start. Spoilering it just in case you don't want speculation. Spoiler: Prediction I buy the early thoughts that Joel is dead throughout the game. But more than that I think he dies in the games opening scene. The first game had the best/most emotional opening ever so I think they go big again. Opening scene Joel dies. It will also take place not long after the first game ends. But more than that ill go as far as Ellie has a big part in it and she blames herself for it ...if not actually killing him herself after she learns the truth of how the first game ends. That's why he stays in her head throughout the rest of the game.
i'm just glad ellie is a lesbian because if i'm playing a video game as a woman i prefer for her to be a lesbian
Non-story spoiler, but a little “help” regarding one of the early mechanics if you don’t mind taking advantage of an in-game option: Spoiler You can increase the radius and scan time of the Listening Mode by going to options -> accessibility -> navigational and traversal -> turn on enhanced listening mode and then change either bar to your heart’s content. Definitely helps if you’re going for collectibles or playing Survivor difficulty where resources are few and far between.
im like two hours in Spoiler not a fan of whats happened so far aside from the lesbian sex in the grow room. so many things feel forced.
