It's early, IMO. This is really going to help the top teams, who have deeper benches, IMO. I can see this benefiting us if we are healthy.
That's not true, IMO. You guys have been spoiled. We were decimated by injuries. We are deeper than we have ever been since I have been a fan. We have some weak spots and some of our players have fallen off in the past 1.5 years but most of the players on our squad now would command decent transfer fees.
GK - Hugo, Gazz, Vorm CB - Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Tanganga, Foyth RB - Aurier, huge hole LB - Davies, Sessegnon CDM - Dier, Sissoko, Winks, Skipp, Fernandes CAM - Lo Celso, Alli, Ndombole Wingers and Outside Middies - Lamela, Bergwijn, Moura, Son Striker - Kane, huge hole between the midfielder and winger positions there is a ton of versatility to play other roles.
*We've never had a deep bench, so having a semblance of a bench this year (with a bunch of mediocre and/or unproven players) just makes it look deep **Most of our roster has fallen off in the past 1.5 years ***We're Spurs, multiple of our players will inevitably get injured during this 2 games a week rush to finish the season
I find it hard to take sometimes when the majority of the players who are "unproven" are guys we begged to sign over the past two years. It doesn't happen overnight, and as far as the guys falling off nobody saw that coming. This team has needed a rest after the world cup and then the CL Finals last year. Perhaps that is the cause of the fall off. I definitely think it was last year, after the majority of our starters went deep into the World Cup and did not have any downtime. They have been on fumes for much of the past two seasons. I am hopeful that this rest is exactly what we needed. I just don't want to make this revisionist history, because absent a couple of players there are very few players on the squad that people didn't want when we signed them, and there are those on the squad who people didn't want and are now Favorites (Kane, Dele, Sissoko). Transfers are a crap shoot.
Assuming UCL is out, would y’all rather play in Europa next year or put the full focus into league play?
I’d normally agree, but I’m preparing myself for little to no summer transfer activity, and our squad could certainly use the rest.
Ideally you're deep enough to play Europa and the domestic tournaments with a mix of 'B' players and some core starters and are good enough to win games against the 2nd best team in Serbia or whatever. Anyway, I'm interested to see if this team plays better now that they have Kane, Son, and Sissoko (presumably) fit. If the Bundesliga games are any indication, the matches will start out sloppy as hell.
Team no Europa. That tourney is completely pointless unless you win it, and I'm not betting on us winning anything.
Maybe, but it's money, and the team is going to need money. Also, without upgrading some positions, this team isn't Top 4 even if they "concentrate on the domestic matches" or whatever.
Money is a good point. Anyone know how much you get for Europa compared to Champions league? Also do anyone know what the hell is going on with City and if they're eligible for europe?
Norwich 2-1 Tottenham in an interesting four quarters of 30 minutes per format. The two conceded were late against a mostly youth side. Reading friendly cancelled tomorrow for circumstances outside of our control. https://www.football.london/tottenh...nham-hotspur-unusual-friendly-defeat-18413381
I like that format for friendlies. I wonder if the game would dramatically change if they went to 3 periods like hockey, but with much shorter “halftimes.”
It would create another opportunity for scripted goals right before the break in FIFA, am I right SugarShaun? Pisses me off so much.
Had a pic of an overwrought Rose and Haxard with a pic of a slim Ndombele. These were the pictures used for Rose and Ndombele:
I definitely am more Danny than Tanguy at this time. I ran for the first time this morning since March 10th. Oh my god 3 miles was hard.
Of fucking course I just get pulled into some last minute field work and won’t be able to watch live tomorrow.
Foyth also picked up a knee injury that may require surgery. Absolute guarantee Kane or Son (probably both) get hurt Friday.
I'm expecting some things from Gedson. They've been giving him some love on the official Twitter account this week.
