I'm by no means an expert but a few examples would be the GPU terraflops thing. You see the bigger number and think "wow this must mean its better", except measuring terraflops is about as useful as my aforementioned example of measuring 100 meter times on OL prospects. Optimization is also way more important than max capacity. Doesn't matter if a system can cap out at 8k 120 fps on a still vista if during regular gameplay the visuals drop to below 1080 30 fps.
I think the repeated points from the MS side have been the importance of frame rate, and the hardwares ability to maintain high frame rate levels during regular gameplay.
Xbox is such a great name that I can’t believe the best they could come up with was Xbox series x. Out of principle I won’t be buying the system
I think I slept on Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The game bogs you down like crazy in the beginning, but it really gets fun once you can do your own thing. It's crazy slow, if you couldn't handle RDR2 pacing you should stay away. Patience is what is rewarded in this game.
Tried after a few months away. Overwhelming. Also I didn't feel like dropping 60 bucks on all the DLC I'm behind on. I feel like it's probably a pretty good investmen if it's one of the only games you play, I just fell off. All in on Kingdom Come: Deliverance now.
I recently started back. Super confusing on what to buy between dlc and seasons, but I landed on just play what's free. Plenty of missions and the ability to level up, and I just do my mindless favorite of strikes when I get a half hour to play.
Now is honestly the best time in a while to get back into it. If you buy the $10 season pass you get access to a good chunk of Shadowkeep (the major DLC from Oct) which will let you play the story missions, go back to the moon and you can then follow the major plot development that was introduced. This new season is a continuation of that story & allows you to skip the last 2 garbage seasons that had nothing to do with anything (the Vex tried to invade and you killed them over and over in boring public events. And then they stopped. Then you went back in time to save Saint 14 because Osiris was too much of a bitch to do it himself. Saint then unlocked Trials which was a colossal failure.) The season is only a week old but already has a Taken King feel to it.
Unless Shadowkeep is on sale I’d just go with this season personally. The first mission in Shadowkeep is free to play and has a holy shit” moment/gives you an idea of where the story is headed. From there you can decide if you want to buy the rest of the DLC to finish the campaign story (probably 2-3ish hours of content) that culminates in the Scarlet Keep strike. At this point that strike and the raid (Garden of Salvation) are the only other activities that would be included along with the campaign as everything else was just seasonal. I will say that much of the campaign is only tangently related to the new storyline and the raid is almost completely separate so you’re not missing much if any backstory or context.
Sad it got delayed again....but if any developer deserves all of the slack and good faith, its CD Projekt Red.
I’m skeptical but there is a rumor that Microsoft is going to release an all digital XSX at half the price of a PS5.
Would be a game-changer (if rumored price etc. are correct). I haven't bought a disc version of a game in like 3 years and don't plan to do so anytime soon. edit: fuck you nexus I THOUGHT IT WAS A GAME-CHANGER
Yeah I have zero desire to get a disk version so that would be quite welcome news, regardless of price.
I’ll get one version with a disc drive no matter what for blu rays but I’m all about digital versions. Also interested to see what else MS puts out and how they roll out xCloud.
It’s 2020, who the fuck is buying actual discs? The idiots who can’t fathom digital ownership and need to retain the option to get $4 from GameStop?
- What if I want to sell my copy to a friend to undercut GameStop? - What about if I want to gift my niece and nephew a copy where their internet is spotty?
There’s already game sharing. And what percent of the current gaming population is playing without internet these days?
Dude, if you dont buy disks, how can Gamestop survive if they can't pay you $2 for a game you don't play anymore and sell it for $30?
I know they’ve willingly turned a blind eye to game sharing, but I wish they would straight up acknowledge it at this point. Kind of annoying to game share when I have 2 boxes because my secondary box can’t use the games the other person purchased. Also wouldn’t be surprised if they cut it off for the x series
I think, and this may have changed, the disk-less version would also be less powerful. Kinda like the regular Xbox One and Xbox One X right now. The plan, at least as far as I knew, has been for there to continue to be a standard console and a premium console. I'm not going to get a gimped version just because I buy all digital.
Sony doing 2 equal versions just 1 w/o a disc drive should mean there is either a disc less Series X or the Series X with disc is priced at the disc less PS5 price.
I'll buy physical nintendo products (mario pokemon) for my kids because they hold trade value well but for Xbox? Hell no, I'm not swapping a disk out.
Would be nice but I haven't seen anything on the existence of that. All of the rumors right now are about the Series S (unannounced) which will be around half power, less than half the size, and seemingly half the price.
Why should anybody give a shit about your ability to resell, especially if digital content is cheaper than a physical disk? And lol at “a lot”. In 2018, 84% of video & computer game sales was digital and I’m betting that number is now closer to 90% if not more.
Why do you give a shit if a buy a physical copy? C A N E purchased a game from me last month. Win win imo
yeah but a situation in which all games are digital is a win win win. and in a win win win we all win.
Lower production costs keep the price down on both the actual console and the games themselves. This has been established. Also it’s an industry built on advancements in technology, not a fucking charity. If you don’t like the way it’s trending simply don’t buy it.
