I'm gonna put him in the tub week one of next szn in NCAA and I might just stream it for all of tmb to see.
There absolutely is, from reaction time to how fast you process information there's definitely a pretty sharp dropoff after a certain age. Its the reason why the teams/players that win those 10+ million tournaments never have anyone more than 30 years old on them.
it does ironically it literally takes me 2 minutes to remember you trust trump. It used to take me less time
Not sure if it's related at all, but one of my friends from high school is a popular twitch streamer (although not nearly as popular as this guy) and was retweeting tweets about an alleged sexual harassment that occurred at a twitch event. He intimated that it was a well-known streamer. Seems like it would make sense.
And the current best Starcraft2 player is like a 19 year old, there's talent and practice sure, but it also comes down to the older players just getting worse and the 15-18 year olds get better. I'd go as far to say that Starcraft, CS:GO etc at the highest level is even more unforgiving than NBA/NFL in terms of "losing a step", Lebron can make up for losing a step with experience and knowledge, you lose 0.2 sec average from your reaction time in Starcraft and you go from being a top 10 player in the world to not even top 500.
we slow down as we get older. That’s not controversial to say. There is no reason to think reaction time in our hands would be any different.
I hadn’t played online video games in a decade. Since quarantine I’m now better friends with the younger brother of a guy, who’s parents flew me to Spokane, and put me up in a five star hotel, so I could see the bastard get married.
i understand that but we also learn to anticipate better with experience. I won’t argue too much here, it’s in relation to gaming and I know nothing about that
really i just had a gut feeling about it based on playing counter-strike since around 2002 and dealing with how much harder that game has gotten for me but then there is this chart that basically mirrors the physical peak for pro players in that game and in other pro leagues
Imagine its like rock paper scissors, only you get to see your opponent move first but you only have 0.3 secs to respond correctly to survive/win otherwise you immediately lose, no amount of experience will make up for your brain/hand just not being able to move as fast as they use to.
Its like if basketball's rules were such that the only way you can score points is with Derek Fisher's 0.4 sec shots, basically absolute brink of human reaction time and shot release speed on every shot.
I played CS all the time as a freshman in the dorms. I “invented“ Hammer at mid for our server. Our friend/doormate who sucked at counter strike was trying to show us full South Park episodes on this outfit called YouTube. I was getting my knife out to cover long A in Dust 2.
Never played Warcraft. Just got high with people going to play Warcraft.. And say I bought weed from Warcraft playing friends, but they usually just want me to have weed
I’ve not. But it sounds good. Currently, I’m on 13 Warzone wins by while the guy with only 5 and 3 with me shouts that he has a better K/D.
That mod was sick. I would run undead with like vampiric and unholy aura (I think?) and just rock with the AK
critical grenade #1 from the orc class. i think level 3 crit grenade was like 350% damage on grenades
I don’t think that’s *the* reason. https://www.engadget.com/2020/03/09/the-esports-elders-defying-their-age/
Never really watched streams...other than when that like awkwaddad guy pops up on Facebook doing long haul trucking games which I don’t understand. But I’ll watch a bunch of the YouTube content creator guys. Like itemp, backoffmyjankz, soar kobi, chicken9man, muselk.
Muselk is part of a group that also makes content. Those can be entertaining when the others start roasting him for one reason or another.
So what happened to older pro gamers? Surely they quit and moved into other areas of pro gaming or found ways to get paid more etc
Every time I play call of duty I will get killed by people I didn’t even know could see me. I’m going to chalk it up to age
It’s probably because you’re spending too much time having sex with girls to practice video games adequately
I wasn’t sure if they were all in that age bracket because until the recent monetization (at least the multimillionaire potential) most older people had to get “real” jobs to support families OR if your reasons stated are the reason. The main skill set I tried to compare it to was a pilot or race car driver. Reaction times and information processing being at a premium there too. Granted there’s no 72 year old nascar drivers but we also don’t look at them like gymnasts who turn 22 and talk about how it’s a forgone conclusion it’s their last shot at a medal. I’m also mainly having a hard time admitting my nephews might beat me at Mariocart in a few years, that’s a tough one.
13-15 year olds are dominating the Fortnite scene and it’s legit the only scene they’re allowed in. Every other E-Sport has basically some sort of minor league scene and then the actual scene that has an age requirement
There are games where reaction time, mechanics and information processing isn't absolutely needed to be good at, but for the competition ones like real time strategy (starcraft, league of legends, Dota) and shooters (CS:GO) it puts a premium on those attributes where humans peak at around 19-24 years old.
Maybe pro gamers are all young because once they hit 30 and move out of their parents basement they don’t have time to play anymore? There are a couple rugby videos games too.
I’ve probably got it all messed up because the guys I know who play and do well at DOTA are late 30’s and early 40’s (and pretty much all single or divorced). But I’ve never watched a tournament to see how much better those 19-24 year olds are, but I bet it would be astonishing. Like when Jordan was playing pickup games around Chicago.
Pro gamers buy their own houses at 18. But by all means, continue being the cheesedick talking about rugby.
Yeah the “click” crew thing is kind of annoying. I’ve watched fresh on his own. Haven’t watched much muselk stuff since episode one or whatever.
This is a very original joke. Congrats. With this and trying to make the thread about rugby, what is it that bothers you so much about video games?
As an e-sports agent my goal is to sign some of the best athletes in the world, which is why when I visit the high school campuses after school I go straight to the library.
