chase disputes are nearly fraudulent. just insane long story i've been through. what is the best non-chase visa cause i'm real tempted to shut down my chase accounts.
this has been my experience and why i'm really thinking of moving all my spending there, just still need a visa for the non-amex places.
I've had good experience with their extended warranty (going thru 2nd one right now) and rental car insurance. What issues are you running into?
had a hotel booking that was nonrefundable the hotel closed during corona submitted a dispute the person on the phone said yeah ez slam dunk, charges validated as legitimate because the hotel sent an email that didn't dispute they were closed but didn't admit it either appealed, they then said the window to dispute is over because of the time frame has passed (due to their own delay in litigating it) while again admitting I should have been refunded basically just shrugged and said theres nothing they can do, went up the chain to the highest supervisor, etc. blamed visa and federal laws basically.
the company chase sends the rental car stuff through is good though, got backed into in a parking lot in clemson last year and they just cut the check
I have 100k+ Citi Thank You points. My annual fee is approaching so I want to use/move them. I’m considering transferring to a partner (like Virgin) rather than using them for cash value as I’d like to get a better redemption when allowed to transfer again but thought I’d run it by this group first to see if anyone has sage advice that I may not be thinking of. TIA.
My suggestion would be to convert your card to a doublecash and to not make any moves on your thankyou points
I guess its still not confirmed, but there were data points of people under 5/24 being denied for Chase personal cards (but over 5/24 if you count Chase biz). When calling into recon, the reason being given is "Too many new accounts with Chase".
per seemingly smart people the virgin bankruptcy stuff doesn't really mean anything, just pending the bailout they're already getting I wouldn't park points there without knowing you'll use them in the next 8-12 months tho
I need to look into back into personal chase cards in the meantime. Ive been doing CIP's the last two years im probably 0/24 for myself and my wife. Will have to wait till after I finish my mortgage refinance.
stacked up almost all my points while building. Had the builder let me pay all materials/vendors that took a credit card.
How many points did you amass with that CIP blitzkrieg? Do you still have them or did you redeem for cash?
Uh most I had was about 1.5 million UR points. Down to about 1.2-1.3 million. Redeeming everything that I can lol.
Just hit 5/24 with Chase, and am locked out of Amex in pop up purgatory . I'm thinking of taking a break from the CC game as well. Any good offers from Citi, Cap one, or BOA? Not sure what the offers are right now relative to normal.
Its crazy. I've been an Amex cardholder for 8 years, and have only cancelled 1 card in that time (a Marriott card back in April). Amex customer service won't give me a straight answer on why I'm getting the popup either, so I'm just putting some spend on my existing Amex cards, and hoping it goes away.
Let me know how that goes. I got the popup and have just been focusing on getting my wife cards and points.
Chase Business $95 annual fee just hit. Best course of action is to request a downgrade to a non fee card?
BBVA Select Credit card is $500 back after spending $4k. Pulls Transunion too. Youll have to see if BBVA operates in your state.
Decided to do some research this AM and this is pretty much what everyone says. For a few months put all of your spending on whatever Amex cards you have open. I'm guessing b/c I stopped using my amex and put all my spending on Chase they ding'd me. I guess I'll move some spending back to my delta card for the rest of the year and see what happens
Personal data point -stopped using my AMEX BCP after reaching minimum spend to get signup bonus -downgraded to no annual free card after 1 year -got/accepted a 15k pt offer to reupgrade to $95 AF card after 18 months -tried to sign up for new AMEX green after a few months of heavy spend on my old AMEX -stuck in pop-up hell -hopefully by the 3rd or 4th statement, they'll let me back in P2 was also denied her 1st Amex because of "too many new cards", even though she's under 5/24. Tldr: AMEX being some bitches right now
Yes. Do it within 30 days of the AF posting if you want the full $95 back. But you can also downgrade later for a pro-rated amount, unlike some of the co-branded chase cards
Not official, but great news if true "Chase tells me that Pay Yourself Back will be a permanent feature of the Ultimate Rewards program, and that they will add more cards and change the categories for the program in the future."
Freedom Unlimited: if you're using the card for everything Freedom: if you have another card you're using for everything and just will use it for the 5% categories No reason to downgrade to the Preferred in my opinion. If you can't get $150 benefit out of the CSR you can't get $95 out of the CSP
If you have no intention of churning, I would downgrade to a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited, otherwise I would open either a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited, get the bonus, then downgrade your CSR to a second of the card you opened. That way you aren't locked out of the bonus for those cards when you downgrade.
All Hilton Amex cards have a current points promotion that earns you a bonus 1,000 points per $1,000 spent, but that’s not really much of a highlight. The big part is if you spend $5,000 you can earn a free night, so that’s cool.
Just $5k spend on the Aspire and you get a free night? Is it the same as the annual free night that it’s good at any property?
Yes, after you add the offer to your card. I think it’s available for all of the Hilton cards, unless I read that wrong.
About a year ago I opened a Citi AA card, hit the 50k bonus spend, but never received it. They finally told me I wasn't eligible because I'd received one in the past 48 months. The bonus may have posted under that time frame but I knew for a fact that it had been over 48 months since I had applied and gotten the card and that it was unreasonable to hold me to when the bonus posted because you can't even go back that far in account activity history for AA. They basically told me, "tough shit." The fee for the card posted a few days ago so I called to downgrade it (normally would've just closed it but we're in the process of building a home so I don't want to fuck with my credit if I can help it). Decided to check my AA miles balance, knew it was about 10k or so. Log in and have 64k miles. They posted the 50k bonus 2 days ago. I am in shock. Now if only I could use these right now...
How long does it take for the travel credit normally to hit the card after a travel transaction has posted for the CSR? I rented a car two weeks ago and the charge posted on the 18th. With Amex my credits normally post within a couple days from the day the charge posts so I was expecting the same but it's been more than a week now.
