IMO yes. Im drinking some right now. Been sipping on it for the last week and I can't get enough. I will buy another bottle of it for sure. Great honey note up front, great rye kick in the back.
Never mind I am an idiot, says cask strength in the middle of the label. Looks like this: https://www.caskers.com/belle-meade...MIh4fGwpjl6wIVmR-tBh1EMQlLEAQYASABEgLg5fD_BwE
Just did a side by side taste comparison among by 3 barrel proof store picks. Four Roses OESK ($76), 10 year, 1 month 60.6% Knob Creek ($49) 9 year, 2 months 60% 1792 Full Proof ($49) 8 year, 6 months 62.5% The 4R and 1792 are far better than the Knob Creek and I like the KC. The 4R and 1792 are close. Maybe a little smoother finish on the 1792. Both have good flavor throughout, but for the price I’d buy the 1792 if I had to choose between the two.
Did you just open the KC? Also, I''m guessing your price points are something like $70, $50, and $45 respectively? If so: 1792 is a steal KC just needs to sit 4R is delicious but favors a different palate (higher rye maybe?)
I put the prices in there. The KC has been open a while. It’s good, but the other two are just better. I prefer higher ryes, but I think the E recipes of 4R are the lower rye mash bill, but I can taste the rye in there.
Yes, I like them all but I’ll definitely choose that 1792 at $49; it was a pleasant surprise. Would like to see it with another year or two of age just to see how much it’d change the profile.
So these Smoke Wagon releases are interesting. They do share a similar profile to some of the Garrison Brothers bottles I have tried. The unifying flavor seems to be amoretto. I am sipping the Straight Bourbon Whiskey release now and its very light but flavorful and enjoyable.
The 4R single barrel was tasting good last night. Enjoyed one too many watching Coastal take down Kansas at midnight but such is life
Got lucky with the BB. Randomly went into the nearby publix liquor store and the store rep said they just got in a couple bottles of that and Hibiki Harmony. $102 and $92 respectively.
Stopped by my spot where I picked up 3 toasted Michter's last year and I was a week too late. He got six of them in. I picked up a consolation prize though. I now have the last four releases of Stagg Jr. Psyched to try it. I drank batch 12 last night. This one is 14. Overpaid above list but all in all good price at $62.
just got this one in the mail and am definitely intrigued. 15yr and distilled in Kentucky. Wonder what distillery it’s from?

I thought it leaked at first until I saw the faux tap strip. I guess they just wanted to stretch the samples as far as possible
Is Rare Bread rye hard to find? I feel like I’ve seen it but one of my local guys said he is getting it in next week.
I did a bad thing and got started on the world of bourbon raffles due to a friend’s insistence. One week later, $1300 spent. I’ve won: EHT Single Barrel Rock Hill Farms Single Barrel Van Winkle 12 “Lot B” Pappy van Winkle 15 Think I’m going to stop while I’m “ahead”
Stopped by a local liquor store today in Columbus, they had three cases of Bookers BB sitting out at MSRP with no limit. Store clerk also told me they were about to put out a case of OWA but I would have to wait for them to get it out of the back I bought none FAIL
Arena District Wine and Spirits, I was on the Crew Stadium jobsite all day and just wanted to get my gin and get out. If the OWA was on the shelf I would've bought one and given to my long list of TMB members looking for it. I just wasn't in the mood to wait
Update: just hit another one. The catch is that 2 spots on the raffle went unfilled. So I need to put in another $390 for a 2016 Booker’s Rye Limited Edition. That’s a no brainer, right? Secondary is $2k I think.
Yes - two of them sold for $2k today, but one was signed by Fred Noe. It was only a one time release so that bottle will continue to increase in price plus its fucking delicious. How much are you in for so far?
That’s the only one I’ve entered since my last post, though I was so close to entering a Pappy 20 with the 5 fireball tonight and would have won it for $200. Total spent: ~$2050 Bottles: EHT Single Barrel Rock Hill Farms Single Barrel Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 year “Lot B” Pappy Van Winkle 15 year Booker’s Rye 2016 Limited Edition
No - I meant how much was your entry for the Booker’s Rye. Trying to get an idea of the total price of X + $390 to buy.
Btw - I’m sitting on two Booker’s Ryes, but I’ve also drank two others. These two are gonna be sold eventually and fund either a shit ton of cheaper bottles or a fun trip whenever we can travel safely again.
