It's basically the opposite for me. Most of my trout I catch are on dries and I don't seem to have the knack for nymph fishing.

Manatees have been part of the Eco system long before golf courses, fertilizer, run off, septic systems etc

Florida has always had springs they flocked to in winter

Tried to fish the Chattooga today, but with all the rain we've had, the river was up a lot, so not much luck with the fish. Did get a couple good pictures of the rapid known as Crack in the Rock/Hole in the Wall.

We’ve had crazy high water as well. Lots of rain but also a wind pushing the already high high tides even higher. Fish are way back in the bushes

Just praying for a cool down in a few weeks.

Made a few blue wing olives and some copper johns over the last few days. Didn't have the feathers I wanted to use for the copper johns, so one of our hens got a small haircut.

Made a few wooly buggers and went out on the Chattooga this morning. Caught 6 on a bugger and another 4 or so on a blue wing olive.

November I believe. Doesn't apply to Burrell's Ford though, just Highway 28 bridge up to Reed Creek, which is only a mile or so up the river.

i fish the hwy 28 bridge area the most on the chattooga. the chauga a bit more probably, and that was under regulations as well. although, i think this year i am going to put most of my trout effort into figuring out the davidson and hoping duke let's people wade the tuck once in a while. the davidson is an hour closer to my house, and the tuck is actually closer too.

I've never actually fished the 28 bridge area. Just at the Section II put in when I start canoeing down. The only part of the delayed harvest section on the Chauga I've fished is Hellhole. Haven't been to Grapevine since it's such a big camping area. Luckily everything is within 45 minutes for me, but I have to limit myself to half a day or so for my wife's sanity.

Made some CDC Elk Hair caddis, RS-2s, and damselflies this week. Looking like a rainout for the week, but next weekend I'm going to a river that's only easily accessible during hunting season. Otherwise, it's a 4 mile hike, so should be plenty of fish that haven't seen a fly in a long time.

Tried out this mountain stream today. It's only accessible by vehicle during hunting season, otherwise it's a 4 mile hike. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to get to a lot of it due to the steep banks and dense rhododendron and mountain laurel.

Wife and I are canoeing Section II of the Chattooga tomorrow. Taking the fly rod, will see how it is trying to fly fish from a moving canoe. Still deciding whether to take a 9 ft or 7.5 ft rod.

Caught my first one on the fly. A stocked rainbow on a wooly booger. My fishing compadre was up the river so I didn’t get a pic but it was modest, maybe 6”. I was so damn elated though I got watery eyes. I was damn near the quitting point having gone from catching huge natives on lure to just jerking my dick on the fly.

Not easily. I just assumed that I would cast while sitting. Plus we pull off often to fish runs as we pass them. Taking a spinning rod as well, so if the fly rod doesn't work well while we're moving, I'll use the spinner until we stop.

Congrats. You definitely catch more on tackle, but I enjoy the challenge of fly fishing more, even if it is frustrating getting skunked or only catching 1 or 2. There's nothing quite like seeing a spot, knowing there's a fish there, and tossing out your fly to the right spot and catching it. Especially on a dry fly and getting to see them rise.
