have a friend who threw TWO weddings since the end of March. the first was just family/wedding party (probably 30ish ppl total) and a “replay” wedding the other weekend with about 60 ppl
Remember when I tweeted that my nephew got it from college and he’s at home with his parents and sister and they are not being safe. Guess what happen? Yep
Spent four hours at SFO yesterday making sure an elderly infirm relative got from one (intl) flight to another (dom) smoothly. Every person I saw who wasn't wearing a mask correctly was speaking Russian
We aren’t starting from 0 thought. A significant part of the population will have already recovered from the virus. Plus what is most important is that we get the 60+ crowd vaccinated asap
Definitely agree that we can start to feel like things are a lot better IF essential workers and the olds are vaccinated as early as possible.
Yep. We don't know how long effective immunity lasts, and delivering two doses/shots to millions of Americans will be a challenge for sure..
Pretty sure they've spent the past couple of seasons apologizing for all their really awful center-right "just asking questions" takes.
If we have cheap, reliable, quick tests available then in theory bars could operate at usual capacity provided you test negative. It wouldn't be like normal and you wouldn't be able to leave but it's better than what's going on now.
It would be nice if we have readily available masks and rapid tests for every person and business in the US by 2021. That would be a goal set by a normal administration. That would make the wait for a vaccine more palatbale.
As far as I know, masks are readily available right now and we still have a solid 30+% of the population that refuses to use them. This is a problem of our idiot population, not necessarily the mitigation measures.
We are even fucking things up in Europe now went on a bar crawl after coming back from Greece with a sore throat and awaiting covid test results. Hopefully they prosecute her.
Was riding around with my wife and the local restaurants are packed. We've barely left the house for 6 months. It's bizarre. People in the same town living in completely different worlds
That’s crazy. Very glad my barber takes it very Seriously, they clean everything between cuts, substantial spacing. Every customer gets a temperature check and hand sanitizer
We did the same thing at a brunch place last week. Had people crammed in a small waiting area, hosts mask didn't fit and I overheard that some of the tables were under 6 feet apart, and the wait staff kept pulling their masks to talk to people. Fuck that.
Sister in law (high school teacher) tested positive today. She’s 32 and healthy so hopefully she’ll be fine
seeing a lot of places get a little busier indoors as a result of the terrible air quality, which really, is also just a preview for how things will be when the weather gets cold/damp. Fall is going to be a mess.
I'm trying to go out and eat/drink a little bit but I steadfastly refuse to be indoors with folks any longer than it takes to place an order at a counter. (Seating outdoors, or carry-out) My friends posting shit where they're clearly seated inside triggers tf out of me.
Can you imagine if this administration spent as much time and effort leading this country through a pandemic as they do pretending to lead?
this is what I do, I haven't been out a lot but I'm thankful that we have open containers in our little suburban city downtown area, meaning I can order a drink at a bar and take it with me. It is absolutely insane how many people are inside restaurants and bars completely unmasked. Hope these pieces of shit are getting sick enough that they will have a huge amount of antibodies for the next 6 months.
