That’s not what I said but I’m not surprised that was your response. I’m also not Upper Middle class. poor paul What does me being white have anything to do with it?
These are the type of tweets that Russillo salivates over. “And then I see this thing all over social media about how the local media is causing the Heat to win and I’m like...are we really doing this?”
I liked Jackie on Around the Horn a decade ago. Hoping she will be entertaining. It'll get old quick if she just waxes on about the 80s Celtics with Bill every time she's on.
long read but very good https://www.theringer.com/movies/2020/9/16/21438005/the-town-oral-history-10-year-anniversary
I've never liked Jackie, but I've hated pretty much every sports writer from NY or Boston from that era so it's not really anything specific to her.
Probably. I think media people in general (from every major city/paper) from MacMullan's era had a level of arrogance about them that has always annoyed me. And the NY/Boston media types are especially bad with that. I think the Simmons generation is annoying, but for different reasons, and at least makes me laugh from time to time.
Considering LA’s offerings from that generation were TJ Simers and Bill Plaschke, throw my city in there too
it was cute when KOC would fire off some hot takes occasionally, but he seemingly is just leaning into it as they get lots of reactions on twitter unfortunate
Maybe (probably) it’s just my feed but it’s all like moms and people my age hating their job, being dumb etc. My original post was dumb, it definitely is younger, but it’s not nearly as non adult as people think.
Been pretty frustrating to listen to Russillo and Simmons abandon the NBA playoff coverage and go whole-hog on early-season NFL. I get that the scheduling shift put them in a tough position, but you’d hope that they’d audible to prioritize the postseason of the sport they’re alleged experts at, versus week 2 Murray vs Wilson MVP debates or how many games it should take the Jets to fire Gase. Also feels like the Ringer NBA pod has been quiet in general the closer it’s got to the Finals, despite the compressed timeline. I figured we’d be getting pods every day given how fast the games are coming.
I wonder if that has anything to do with a certain team being out of the playoffs and the two teams in the Finals, who knows though lol I am just a silly boy
Eh—the shift began at the end of the BOS/TOR series when NFL week 1 started, and no one on Ringer NBA feed is a BOS fan besides KOC, who doesn’t even cover football.
obviously he's danced around it for years but bill straight up admitting that he doesn't like lebron was weird
At some point in the podcast they were talking about what the finals match ups could have potentially been and he said something about LeBron being one of the most unlikable personalities
