One of the best things I ever did was come back to this show after giving up midway through season 1.

    Spoiler:
Just got through with the episode where Gordon died. So I have like 3 episodes left. When Gordon died it was profound. I was sad as hell. It literally made me start thinking about life and what legacy would I leave behind if I died unexpectedly. Gordon connected so many people in so many different ways and left such a huge impact on so many people's lives. Even though he was like 40, he made a huge impact in those years. And even though he was a huge nerd, he was still a cool guy. He wasn't afraid to take a huge gamble and chase his dreams. What an incredible character. You know a show is good when you feel that big of an emotional response to a character dying.

Small, personal favorite moment was Boz being part of the SMU football pay for play scheme in the 80s

This has been on my to-watch list forever. Finally get around to it...and it's not on Netflix anymore.

7 days free from AMC+ and I've been down almost a full 2 seasons. Might have to just buy a month.

It’s one of the better series in full (including the finale) over the last decade +

Yeah the last season is what takes it from an enjoyable little show to truly memorable

So we finished it last night, just over a month in total watch time - never more than 2 or 3 episodes let me really enjoy it.

    That Lee Pace...what a dreamboat.
I don't get the attraction to Donna but to each their own. I was never so invested in her character that I could stop seeing her as the annoying nurse from that season of Scrubs we don't talk about. Her final season was a good arc though.
Donna and Gordon getting divorced and doing a small time jump a couple episodes from the end of s3 threw me off. Made me think they weren't sure about that 4th season. Reading the thread, I know each "next" season was never a given.
Joe was all the charisma, Donna was all the business, and Cameron was all the talent...but there's no doubt Gordon was the "main" character and glue of the crew. He was a bit of an eternal fuck up but such a good character and easy to attach to.
Boz's character arc was amazing and he was such a great addition.
I appreciated that they stayed true to Cameron's character. She softened a little but in the end, her and Joe weren't long-term right for each other(I'm not sure Cam can do long-term, though you could have said the same for Joe early on).

    About the finale:
I'm a bit of a sucker for wrapped up storylines and them leaving Hailey's a little open-ended(though the entire storyline was great) bugs me, I think. That's just a personal preference but you do at least get the feeling for where she goes from the finale.
Joe's finish is the one I'm really all over the place about. I liked him ending up in humanities - in the end, the people is always what he was about. Moving them, motivating them, understanding them. His position makes sense...and moving out of tech takes some of that "failure" from over his head. But the tarot reading and then random bumping into the IBM guy(who I barely remembered, even when it didn't take me years to watch the show) felt like a rushed explanation and cause. Wasn't Joe's mom a teacher, also...or am I misremembering that? Also, someone his height would never buy a Lotus or a turtle back Porsche. He looks ridiculous getting out of them

I think some sort of in-person, electronic, bank card/credit payment system was Donna's idea. The cash register is manual, the waitress is taking cash, the jukebox takes cash. The move to credit cards at gas pumps, for instance, was not long after this...and it built off the Mutiny-Community payment idea.

The show, overall, is a 8.5/10 for me. The first season is good but really feels a little disjointed from the rest...and I think some part of that is their yearly unsureness about the next season.

The first season was certainly the weakest. I don’t remember if I mentioned it in the thread or not, but I checked the show out and then dropped off. And then when I was informed it had gotten really good, I jumped back in, but was told I could skip half or more of the first season. I did that, and didn’t miss a beat (I eventually went back and watched it all)

I think there's a lot of character building and callbacks in that first season to warrant a full watch.

Little things like Cam playing Cenitpede when she meets Joe, that Joe later buys.
The Cardiff radio Bos finds and Donna's ability to just solder it back.
Gordon's arc as a father. His work in most of season 1 leaves Donna as the primary parent(despite her own work) and that's not he case in later season, or certainly when they divorce.
As a whole, the growth of basically every character except Cam really stems from that first season.

I feel like I'm arguing with myself here. It was the least enjoyable but I think equally as important to the entire series.
