Watched “girl on the third floor” last night. It’s not awful. CM Punk is no Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, that’s for sure.
Doesn't appear to be your normal horror film, but it's from blumhouse and still looks like it could be worth seeing at some point
Watched The Autopsy of Jane Doe this weekend and really enjoyed it. The first half of the movie is damn near perfect, and while I thought it petered out a bit towards the end, it was still very entertaining and a cool new take on horror.
Kubrick 4k collection comes today, excited to watch the Shining again, it’s supposed to be an incredible film to 4k disc transfer. 2001 and Full Metal Jacket aren’t bad to have either.
Was planning on watching I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House tonight but reviews are a bit up and down. Thoughts?
Was not a fan of the ending but enjoyed the vibe and aesthetics during the discovery of the mystery. A few of the film reels were good.
It could’ve been better (relied a bit too much on jump scares), but the build up, lighting, and general creepiness of the super 8 film was really good. Also thought Ethan Hawke was great.
Now that I just finished NEw Girl, I am devoting this month to horror programming and will be watching this.
I loved these movies. Not gonna claim they're masterpieces, but they were well done low-budget found footage flicks. Reminded me Houses October Built and Grave Encounters. I went through a found footage kick earlier this year, and Hell House LLC is up there as one of the better of the genre imo.
Has anyone watched the Shudder ‘short film’ (it’s about an hour long IIRC) THE HOST? It’s worth a watch if you’re into the sort of ‘found footage’ horror style. Anyone watched MONSTERLAND on Hulu? We may start it tonight.
What are some of the best found footage horror movies (other than what was listed in your post and the quoted post)? I love the genre
Watched this and Apostle tonight. As Above was crazy. I'm probably going to regret having watched it shortly before going to bed though.
Going to scare my kid with Monster House and she picked Nightmare Before Christmas for our kid friendly horror movie.
Apparently Raw is part of this movement. That movie was so grotesque I never finished it. Salo is the only other movie that I could not finish because it was too disgusting, I nearly vomited watching that. I need to see more of these movies.
I'm 10 minutes into Creep, and I am creeped out Houses October built was a good one. Watched it Friday
If you want disturbing but not exactly horror may I suggest: Holy Mountain Trash Humpers Come and See The Exterminating Angel Our Hitler: A Film from Germany Conspirators of Pleasure Tetsuo: The Iron Man Even Dwarfs Started Small Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages Anything by the Quay Brothers Also if you want Horror kitsch in the best possible way check out Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula both by Paul Morrissey.
Starting Grave Encounters. Just got past the Lance PReston intro for the "episode." I don't know if I should continue because there is actually a haunted insane asylum - Saint Albons Sanitoruim - about 1.5 hours from here that you can go on a self-tour of that I have been wanting to do for years. Problem is that I've never been able to convince anyone to go with me and LOL at doing that on my own. No way in hell would I do that. https://colonialghosts.com/st-albans-sanatorium/ It's listed as the second most haunted place in Virginia. Interestingly, one of my uncles had their wedding at the #10 place somewhere around 20-25 years ago. His wife basically went crazy about five years after the wedding, and she has been in and out of numerous medical facilities ever since. https://colonialghosts.com/top-25-most-haunted-places-in-virginia/
