Picked up the Eric Church JD today. Was my first time seeing it in the wild. Anybody tried it? Worth a shit?
Snagged a couple AMWND 8-3; anyone had it yet? I usually wait to open mine until closer to Christmas.
If anyone comes across a Bardstown Chateau de Laubade I am looking for one. They were out back in June/July.
Well its getting good reviews in local whiskey fb groups. One dude offered to trade the following "Looking for the new release Chattanooga if anyone wants to trade one or more for WFP, ETL, RHF, Master Picke 13yr MPG" then offered up M10rye Need help here guys
weller fp is store pick and I am unsure after deleting fb secondary group after seeing prices and getting pissed
1. What is MGP? 2. Any thoughts on Smoke Wagon? Overpriced bourbon just posted that it’s available in Tennessee.
MGP is a distillery that sells bourbon to people who sell it under their own brand. Sometimes the brand does nothing to it and sometimes they finish it in a different barrel or mix it with other whiskey.
Just finishing my first bottle of Weller Full Proof. I always liked it a lot, but it really became one of my favorites as the bottle aged. Fortunately I still have an unopened one from one of you guys.
Yea definitely buy the Smoke Wagon, it’s really good stuff and not in GA yet so I’m jealous. as for glassware, if you just want something for sipping it neat, Glencairn is the way to go. Should be able to get 4 of them on Prime for $28
I just opened my second bottle of Full Proof and I like it even better. This one is a single barrel Big Daddy Liquor store pick. It's pretty amazing.
Was able to secure 6 OWA and 3 WSR today at a local grocery store. They got 16 cases of OWA. Already 1/3 through my first bottle.
I think I’m done hunting for the unicorns. I can find delicious bourbon for less than $75 at my store. If I need some wild shit I can get a BTAC flight for $39 and a Pappy flight for $100 at a bar a block from me. Just gets old seeing a Weller Full Proof for $300+. Hopefully in a couple years shit cools off. It reminds of the craft beer days of the early 2010s when Bell’s Hopslam or 3 Floyd’s Zombiedust was $100. Shits good, but it ain’t that good.
https://thewhiskeywash.com/whiskey-...cks-off-her-own-whiskey-subscription-service/ Spoiler: Article Distiller Extraordinaire Marianne Eaves Kicks Off Her Own Whiskey Subscription Service Master distiller Marianne Eaves is one who has already made some significant waves in the American whiskey industry during her career. A range of circumstances, including “her love of science, analytic mind, exceptional sensory skills, creativity, and a fateful internship choice with Brown-Forman,” led to becoming among the first women in Kentucky to earn the title of master distiller, which she dutifully served out at the Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort. She later left here, becoming an independent consultant on projects such as the recent high profile Sweetens Cove Tennessee Bourbon Whiskey launch. Now, as she continues to work on her own, she is debuting Eaves Blind, a self-described “membership-based subscription service that provides exclusive access to a number of first-taste samples of small batch and single barrels curated” by her. This comes alongside a new “mobile spirits laboratory to advance the research and development process in the spirits business.” The two work in tandem in that Eaves Blind is designed to be both, as she puts it, “part of building this revolutionizing laboratory and part sharing the evolution of my work as I raise quality and push creativity to the forefront of the spirits world.” Marianne Eaves (image via Marianne Eaves) What Eaves Blind seems to truly offer is an up close and personal look inside the mind of a creative distilling type such as Eaves. In allowing its members to taste newly blended products, she is giving members “the opportunity to engage in educational experiences to expand the palate and improve tasting skills through two programming levels: apprentice (for those new to spirits) or aficionado (for more advanced tasters).” “Eaves Blind allows even the most sophisticated spirits taster to leave preconceived notions of flavor at the door and come along with me on this exciting journey,” said Eaves in a prepared statement. An Eaves Blind tasting kit (image via Marianne Eaves) From a practical perspective this boils down to seasonal membership kits (shipped four times a year) that, depending upon the membership level, offer a number of unique bourbons blended by her in different size sample containers. Also included, again depending upon the level, are detailed educational materials, special tasting glasses and exclusive related content on different platforms. Pricing for this service, which looks to be launching soon, is set at $300 for apprentice and $550 for aficionado.
What is the going rate for Grain of the Gods, ER 17, and Saz 18? I have GotG and am trying to figure if I have enough to trade up for other 2 but no clue on prices these days.
Wife is outside St Louis visiting her mother. Grabbed me a smoke wagon and a wild turkey Kentucky spirit today because I’ve never seen either.
I can get rare breed here though, never seen spirit. Same price for what I can get rare breed, although I’ll take the rare breed proof for same price. We’ll see how it compares flavor wise. Bonus, the mother in law paid for it, so I’m out $0
Kroger on Sawmill by 270? I remember I told you about their Tuesdays like six months ago. It can be hit or miss, but when it hits it hits.
I was in Evansville, IN for work this week and it looked like their local liquor chain is a place called "Liquor Locker". I went into one of them and got a store pick Elijah Craig bottle that is tasty as hell for $27. While I was in there the owner was interviewing some chick for a cashier position in the office behind the register. First two questions I hear.... "So, tell me what are some good traits about yourself?" "A good trait about myself is that just everyone likes me" "Ok. That's good. Tell me a trait about yourself that you think you could work on". "My temper. I have a bad temper. I think I get it from my two brothers because they are thugs". That dude started ending the interview pretty quickly.
Do you guys like Bombergers AND Shanks? I thought I remember one being better received than the other.
