was watching season 11 ep 1 last night. this is the one where homer and mel gibson work together to change Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. pretty jarring how things have changed. Mel Gibson was the stud/star that everyone loved. and there's a scene in there where they see Robert Downey Jr. in a shootout with the cops. there was one more reference that I'm blanking on right now, but it was just weird to see
the beginning of the end, that episode end = the point where I stopped watching as a pre-teen/early teen
Treehouse of Horror marathon on fxx, they're jumping around and it's so damn jarring going from prime to everything after, one story they showed earlier about Homer, Marge, and a pastry chef at sea may have been the worst one I've ever seen
Quoting my own post (cringe) as I finally gave my friend the framed, autographed Daryyyyl crying photo on Saturday. The look on his face juxtaposed with his wife’s expression of confusion for “their” wedding gift was amazing. Luckily my wife came up and softened the blow by telling her my goal to get the whole softball team autographed on Simpsons scenes. Still only have 4 of the team... I feel like Ken Griffey Jr and Ozzie Smith may be the toughest ones to get.
guys I have a confession to make, the joke in Bart's Girlfriend where Bart seemingly marks off with x's the days on the calendar he was able to avoid his temptress, only for those to be aspirational as he was actually still on day 1, which he denoted with a circle around said x, went completely over my head at the time resulting in a young shig unironically employing the same strategy to countdown the last few months of the school year until summer break I've been holding on to that for so long
"Trilogy of Error" is a really good episode in 12... and there are a couple other ones... but yes, 13 is where the real cliff in quality occurs.
"Ninth Bearded Infantry" destroys me every time, but the rest of it is so good also. "too brave to accept the surrender" and "those white flags are no match for our muskets!"
this would be up there for me, don't think I can actually whittle things down to a "favorite joke" though
