what do you guys think on the life of 5e? i'm thinking 3-4 years. phb-xanathar was 3 years, xanathar-tasha was 3 years. and i lean toward 6e coinciding with the beginning of a new crit role campaign and c3 would be really weird timing.
There's plenty of untouched material. We STILL don't have any published material on the feywild for 5e. They could drag 5e out for quite a while.
getting caught up on c2. the difference in caleb and scanlan's magnificent mansion descriptions is hilarious.
you know, after the covid hiatus it looked like matt had put on a good bit of weight. he seems to be dropping it now though.
Last episode very minor spoiler Matt putting that Spoiler Necromancy trapped gem in his party’s path just because he knows they wouldn’t be able to resist fucking with it and draining some resources before a possible battle was hilarious. I wonder if there was any possible way they could have gotten/used it. side note I was staying in a hotel all week for work and I found a pick up adventurer’s league style game on discord from my local game shop and it was a blast actually playing again. Played my first ever wizard and man, Divination is really fun with portent. Feels really OP with either good or bad rolls.
Finally had our next session and faced Venomfang. Dragonborn barbarian Elf bard Dwarf cleric Halfling druid Elf ranger All level 4 Versus a young green dragon. Lured them in with the dragon chatting them up and trying to deceive them a bit. After a little talking I unleashed the poison cloud breath. They all freaked out when I started asking to borrow some of their 6-sided dice to get the 12d6 damage all at once lol First round attacks did very little to the dragon. His turn came again, rolled a 5 and got the breath weapon back. Unleashed again. Ranger down Druid down Cleric down to 3 (even with advantage on poison saving throws, I failed both times. Even with poison resistance, still knocked down to 3) (As DM I'm getting very concerned about TPK'ing my kids at this point lol) Cleric heals druid back to life Druid heals ranger back to life Barbarian charges dragon Dragon doesn't get breath weapon back, so goes with both claws AND bite on the barbarian since he's closest Barbarian down Cleric uses healing word to get the barbarian back up We run for our stupid lives with the dragon taunting us from his lair lol We did 28 total points of damage to it Module says if we knocked it down to half hp (68hp) it would flee. We weren't even close lol Now I'm thinking Venomfang may have to be a recurring nemesis I think they're all well and good terrified of dragons now though lol
37 and 41 in back to back rounds if you missed the save. Even if you made the save it's 38 combined, which is quite a bit at 4th level
I've rolled really well (plus good Constitution and Dwarven Toughness) and my cleric is at 41. Would have been nice to have succeeded on my saving throw (with advantage both times!) even once. Taking only a quarter damage would be so much better lol
Yes. I'd prefer not to (I'd rather just be a player honestly lol) but when we started it was just me and my two kids and I figured a cleric could help keep them alive. My guy basically just exists though, I stay out of decision making
Jester the cleric not having cure wounds prepared fucking killed me. I always want to know what Matt had planned if things had gone differently.
After seeing her play a non-healing cleric, it’s a hilarious trope that if I ever play a cleric I would absolutely do for spite of my party.
I homebrewed a 6-15 campaign after LMoP where Venomfang was an environmental extremist/anarchist that was engaged in political manipulation to catalyze war in Faerun to stop humanoid civilization from expanding. He scaled from young to adult through the campaign. Not realistic aging but it made for an awesome campaign. Playing a green dragon is so much fun.
Has anybody played Gloomhaven? Apparently my wife is getting it for $40 and I know basically nothing about it
Having Ashley back for so long is great but it’s stopped the necessity for guest characters which kind of sucks. Season 1 and season 2 had so much flavor because of the guest PC’s that would hop on and sometimes become recurring characters
True but if the 8 of them and the crew can get together, you’d think they could figure a way to get a guest in if they wanted
yeah, i think its covid. theyve had guest stars with a full party before. spurt to reani was 25 eps, reani to ashley's return was 10, ashley's return to the covid break was 13. theyre probably just not allowed to have anyone on or taking a lot of precautions at the very least. i doubt the covid setup supports 8 players.
Holy fuck I forgot about Spurt. That may have been the best guest character. Worst was the musician who played Garthok (sp?). Would be fun to go back and rank the guests.
Tier 1 Kashaw Thorbir Gern Blanston Lionel Gayheart Sprigg Tier 2 Shale Shakaste Keg Twiggy Tier 3 Zhara Kerrek Calianna Reanni Tier 4 Lyra Lillith Garthok Tova Nila havent seen arkhan yet but i imagine tier 1
I don't like a lot of the new classes in tasha's, but the ancillary stuff is incredible. Think I'm going to get a lot of use out of the magical region tables
Twilight Cleric 1 level dip is broken. In level one you get: Heavy armor and martial weapons Darkvision to 300 feet and ability to give the same to other characters for an hour Faerie fire always prepared Ability to give a creature advantage on its next initiative roll, and this ability has unlimited usages
a +2 can be any +2 a +1 can be any +1 they cant be the same thing languages can be any languanges same with proficiencies i like it because it allows min/maxers such as myself to not worry so much about finding the perfect race
theres also this CUSTOM LINEAGE Instead of choosing one of the game’s races for your character at 1st level, you can use the following traits to represent your character’s lineage, giving you full control over how your character’s origin shaped them: Creature Type. You are a humanoid. You determine your appearance and whether you resemble any of your kin. Size. You are Small or Medium (your choice). Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Ability Score Increase. One ability score of your choice increases by 2. Feat. You gain one feat of your choice for which you qualify. Variable Trait. You gain one of the following options of your choice: (a) darkvision with a range of 60 feet or (b) proficiency in one skill of your choice. Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for your character.
The one ability score +2 fucks point buy builds though. If you do point buy, you then can't get 2 scores to 16, which I like in most builds. Otherwise Vuman with darkvision? fuck yea that's amazing
