One one hand, I want the offense to continue to get reps so that the pass game is humming come playoff time. And it would need to be to play Ohio State, Bama, or Clemson. On the other hand, UNC is a huge trap game that I’d rather not play if nobody else is playing this many games. And I dot want anymore injuries.
Whether others are playing or not, it's always good to build the resume with the potential of losing in the ACCCG. UNC is the last good chance for a decent win to have to show in the event of a close loss to Clemson. Hell, beat UNC, then have the ACC shut down until the CG. Move it up, even, if they want. Nobody needs to see ND play Syracuse or Wake or whomever Clemson plays those weeks to validate either team. But I still want that UNC notch in the belt.
The issue I have with the wake game is Clemson isn’t playing that weekend. It’s a literal no win situation. Assuming we beat unc next week, we’ve locked up the acccg appearance. Cancel the wake game, both teams have that off week and we play the acccg on December 19.
Would want the ACC to move the title game back to the 12th in that scenario. 3 weeks off before would be a disaster imo
3 weeks? It would just be one week. Unc next week, Syracuse on the 5th, cancel the wake game and give both Clemson and ND the week before the championship game
That was assuming they had wrapped up a spot by beating UNC and Syracuse was cancelled due to irrelevance/Covid
I think this is all a huge reach. ND is going to have to get "lucky" with covid or pull some shenanigans to get a game cancelled. They aren't cancelling ND Wake in favor of Wake Duke. That's a horrible trade for the ACC, ratings wise.
Yeah I see no reason they would cancel Syracuse voluntarily. I could see why the wake game would be canceled (week off before acccg & reschedule the canceled wake Duke game for December 12 so they could get that game in). I have no idea if they would actually do, but that’s the only scenario I see playing out. As Pete says, it would benefit the ACC to make that change
For sure. I think the argument Pete is making is that who cares about ratings for a regular season game. If this scenario gives the ACC the best chance of getting two teams in the playoffs, they would make that trade. Again, I don’t think this actually happens. But it makes sense to me and I hope we don’t play that wake game
I'm not sure I agree with the premise that it helps the ACC get two teams in... I see how it might, but if ND wins the championship game, they will be the lone ACC team in the playoffs so if anything I'd think they would want ND to come into that game slightly hobbled. Also if I'm Clemson, or any other ACC team, I'd raise a world class shit fit if my conference tinkered with schedules to make life easier for ND in this situation.
I always wonder where these guys end up. It’s crazy how you go from being a household name one day to obscurity. A funny story along this line. I was in the Joyce Center prior to a game a few years ago. They had a ND pickup truck on display. Some lady is trying to take a pic so I stop so I’m not in it. Similarly from the other direction a guy walks into it and the lady awkwardly tells him to keep moving. It was Tony Rice. Dude got waved by so she can take a picture of a Nissan truck.
Kollie’s HS stats are absolutely absurd. It seems like every week he’s putting up 3 rushing TDs, 2 receiving, 15 tackles, and a defensive turnover. Next JOK.
Alt is now #178 on 247 overall and i think he's going to get a big boost in the Rivals ranking as well Kid has a McGlinchey build (6'8 and 275 lbs right now) and NFL bloodlines
Did you go to Country Day? One time I was at the blockbuster (wow i'm old) at maple and lahser and the kid working the register saw my ND shirt and told me his brother plays there. He was talking about Jonas.
Sinclair said that he believes both Caleb Johnson (AU commit) and Gilliam (OU commit) are leaning towards ND now Donovan Edwards is still wait and see mode, but if he does visit in Dec, I could see ND landing him which would be huge the Olineman I want to flip most is Wyatt Milum. I think he might be a 1st round pick in a few years
to add to this, if we could somehow flip Milum, i think we have the best Oline class in the nation for 2021
there haven't been any public comments about Milum - it's more my pipe dream adding him would be giving ND 3 potential 5 stars (Milum, Blake, Rocco) regardless of what the rankings sites says
If Eichenburg goes first round, would every LT starter of the Kelly era gone first round? We should be pointing at 4-5 high school OL, saying "you", and finishing our class every year.
So, it’s clear from Loy’s podcast that someone was telling the cb recruit that south bend was filled with a bunch of racist hicks
