I like to spritz with Mountain Dew. Really adds a nice tang and all the sugar helps the bark really look good.
I sometimes add chili powder or cayenne to short ribs, the spice can help cut the fat some as you are eating it.
better to have asked and learned than to have never learned at all, or something like that. Although there are probably places that can be asked where his nuts would not be quite so kicked in.
Just picked these up. Price was high per pound so gonna wait till they come down before buying again but Im excited
Lol, people can find short ribs and Texas easily labels them dino-ribs for us fine folks. Can’t make this shit up folks!
Beef ribs are easy to find in Texas because they’re huge in Texas BBQ (or at least over the past 10 years). It’s damn near impossible to find them in AR. Biggest problem is everybody gets their short ribs from a distributor, hardly anybody breaks down their own cows. The main distributors are claiming to be “out” of Dino ribs currently, which I’m guessing means demand isn’t high enough for them to bother. Mine I finally found were 5.99/lb as well though
Your butcher should be able to cut/source them for you. Or you could ask the guys at whatever grocery store you go to - just ask if they have a full plate instead of cut short ribs.
Are there any local farmer’s markets you go to? That’s where I get mine, and they’re cheap because it cuts out the middle man.
I'm just a rookie, learning in the footsteps of smoke master devine. I'd never heard of dino ribs until yesterday.
You never heard of Dino ribs? Wow, what are you an IDIOT and a LOSER? Go back to Ohio and get skyline chili LOL
So first off I would check at Costco. If not there, I would check a local butcher shop. If they do not have it on display, if they are any sort of shop at all they can provide one for you. If not immediately, due to them already boning out/cutting up their previous shipment of carcasses, they should be able to get you some from their next shipment.
Our Costco just started carrying them this summer. Had never seen them readily available in the area before August. My hope is that it becomes like brisket at Costco where it’s always available
