Did you end up getting both of these TVs? I'm deciding between the LG CX & Sony A8H, and was curious if you compared your two side by side (albeit your sony is different). I am not a gamer and would care most about movies/sports. I know the Sony is a few hundred more, but I'm looking at Black Friday deals, so we'll see how those prices shake out.

Yes, we went with those, but they we aren't moving into that house for another 3 weeks so they aren't up yet. The Sony we went with is an OLED so hard to compare. Not sure the price difference but if you can swing it to go OLED, do it. There's a massive difference in screen quality between that and the LED. Side by side there is no comparison. I think I said it earlier, but I wanted the 85" LED originally but after seeing LED next to OLED, I couldn't buy the LED. I had to go down to the 77" OLED bc that's the biggest they make. It's that big of a difference.

Yeah, both of those are the OLED. From the brief research I've done, it appears that the CX and A8H actually use the same OLED panel (as LG makes them all). However, the A8H has better processing which may help for sports and movie viewing. There are pros/cons to each that I'm still wading through.

    Appreciate the reply.

Ahh my bad. Yea I was told the panels are the same but the Sony looks better bc of the processor, which is the same as you're saying. I didn't see the Sony and LG OLED side by side. I saw the Sony OLED and LED.

This was for living room, game room, and lanai. We ended up adding another 65" Sony for the play room but I can't find pricing on it.

It’s the bottom of the barrel Samsung. TCL does a better job in the budget area. The price is really good for the size, but there are better options in that price range.

Not sure- I'm running earc with soundbar and apple tv. works flawlessly and my cable management is lust worthy.

It is is in our living room downstairs- very bright room and it is on almost 24/7 so didn't want to go OLED there.

Will upgrade the upstairs theater room to OLED in the next few years- need my progeny out of daycare first $$$$$$$$$$

Any suggestions? Looking to add a new 70 inch to the basement TV room. TCL 5 series I’ve seen recommended around that range. Any Vizio’s or LG’s? It will be used a few times a week mainly for sports but nothing crazy. I can’t tell the difference between most TV’s and am looking to keep it within 6-700, if able.

Does anyone have experience or tips for mounting a TV within a closed cabinet or limited space?

Where do you install the mount to account for the differences of where the top VESA bolts are located on the backs of TV's?

Having a wooden TV cabinet built for my outdoor porch and it will be big enough for a 60" tv but didnt plan on varrying TV VESA bolt locations.

60" Vizio has 4.5 inches of TV above the top VESA bolts
42" vizio has 3.5" of TV above the top VESA bolts
42" Samsung has 7.5" of TV above the top VESA bolts

If I leave 7 inches of space between the mount and the interior of the cabinet, the Samsung would not fit. I don't want to only build this for my current 60" vizio with the plan of upgrading if it dies, its stolen, or the person after me has a different brand.

    Am I overthinking this?

Looks like I'm going 65" Sony A8H ($1000 off at BB for Black Friday), so happy to hear that you like the A9G.

For Atmos sound bar, I'm probably going either Sonos Arc with sub/rear or the unreleased Klipsch Cinema 1200. Just really started my research on those.

Do LG models go on sale during Christmas season?

CX is anywhere from 300-800 off depending on size. Not sure if that's gonna be the best we will see

Most likely yes, I don’t think even the C9’s have discounted. When we bought our c9 they could sell them cheaper than the c8’s so I don’t think they drop by much ever.

In my experience, the LG OLEDs keep their price up and don't really have a reason to be discounted. If you find a sizable discount, make the jump, unless maybe its a ~2-3 year old model that somehow is still floating around.

For all you OLEDers add “OLED” or “LG OLED” as a search filter on Slickdeals. You’ll get an email every time a new thread is posted for a sale on those TVs. I bought through Greentoe and couldn’t be happier. They get their TVs from qualified sellers and automatically register them prior to arrival. You can haggle on Greentoe to an extent. I went through a few weeks of it and finally bought my C9 65” in February for 1850 including tax and shipping. They’re hard to beat.

Does anyone have the LG OLED BX? Looking at getting that one for my gaming TV. Looks like it's almost the same ratings as the CX but saving a little bit of $$$. (Going with the 55)

Think the advantage of the CX is HDMI 2.1 support if you're into that for the new systems. Not sure if the BX has that or not...

I just bought this. Didn't do a ton of research, but my wife is anti-technology at times, and I was able to suck her in with the frame and art aspects of it. I hadn't yet upgraded to 4K for my small den, and I convinced her that it would give us more room if we took this off the console storage table and we could now put more pictures and stuff on the wall without it looking out of place. I am also thinking about getting the 43" or 55" for my room if I like this.

Glad to hear this. Just bought 2 of these for my mancave but won't see them in action for another month when it is complete. Also bought the 77" A9G to pair with them for my 3 tv setup. I hope I don't regret going Sony over LG.

Wife bought me a portable projection screen for my bday. I was kinda skeptical of build quality due to Amazon/China etc.

We set it up and it's nicer than most I've ever seen. It will go well with the little soda can projector I have always just used on a plain white wall. Will be used for backyard movies, watching fball with neighbors, hosting my large family etc.

If I ever upgrade to a nicer projector, It will be killer. Nicer than something you'd find in a school/church/library etc.
