Quick fact check on that for anyone who's going to repost this: It was about 150,000 total Americans/Brits/Canadians (US provided about 75k of that) and the general consensus is around 4500, not 3500. His point stands but his numbers are off.
Random venting but F LA Fitness so much. I called recently to cancel but was told I cannot cancel my membership over the phone and must come in. So I go in just now and I’m told I can only cancel when the operations manager is there from 9am-6pm! I asked so I seriously have to come back during a pandemic just to cancel, and can’t now or over the phone? She said yes sir. Unreal
Similarly excellent customer service with the company that makes my RO system. I need new filters and despite emails to them and searching for replacement filters, I finally got someone on the line. Filters are $30 but they charge $40 in shipping.
And casualty rates vary widely between landing beaches. Sword, Gold, Juno, and Utah were relatively easy; Omaha was the tough one (and Pointe du Hoc was off the charts hard).
gyms and gym memberships are awful to cancel and it is fucking ridiculous. In a world where you can get out of blue apron, netflix, or youtube TV with a single click, them still operating like that is such a scam
I canceled my gym membership via email. They didn’t even try to haggle. It was weird but it’s a local gym with a lot of funding I think
I’ve kept my gym membership despite not going (nor will I until I’m vaccinated). $22 per month is a worthwhile expense for a small business I enjoy supporting and want to exist into the future.
I was going for a bit in the summer but once they got rid of the reservations I stopped. It was getting pretty bad with people just wearing chin diapers or not covering their nose. Recently started going to my apartment gym because only 2 people can reserve it at a time so my wife and I reserve it so I have it to myself. I still wear my mask the whole time working out by myself in there because fuck it. I also clean everything like I could eat off of it before I touch it.
My mom is a nurse, out of work at this time, but she told me this morning that a friend asked her to check on the friend’s dad. He’s in his eighties and slipping mentally. Bla bla bla, yada yada, she sat and talked to this old guy indoors at his house without masks for 20 minutes yesterday. Surprise, this old guy is positive! She is going to get a “blood test on Friday.” Blood tests are for serology aka antibodies aka only good after an infection, not in the midst or onset of one, right?
Yes, she needs to do a nasal swab test. Antibodies aren't going to tell her anything unless she obviously gets sick.
She’s a Trumpist and she’s been on the director level long enough that she apparently has no understanding of being frontline or patient-facing. It’s next level dumbassery.
Never has it been more apparent than during this pandemic that nurses are not doctors. They aren’t virologists. They aren’t epidemiologists. Some of them might like to think they are, but they aren’t
My wife just did a virtual dr visit (not covid related) and it was not at all what I expected. I thought it would be a video call with a human....nope...it is just like 100 questions you click through. Then they email you with their diagnosis and prescription info.
At least testing on Friday makes sense. As mentioned earlier she should get a nasal swab. Did she at least keep 6 feet from the guy? If so, 20 minutes barely makes it into the risky contact category.
It was first thing this morning that she called and told me but I did not get that impression, and she might have said three feet, so like sitting face to face. He reportedly did not sneeze or cough but that’s clearly not out of the woods. Doing a rapid test today that I told her would likely be negative based on time since exposure.
Ya the media definitely didn’t cover vaccines. Goodness. GOP is the party of aggrieved snowflakes and Rubio is the worst. Kill yourself bud
and the president touting an unproven malaria drug that can get people killed isn't newsworthy at all
Marco, the owners of Hydroxychloroquine or whatever would like to have a conversation about their profits made off the media supporting it.
Ron Johnson held an extended hearing re: hydrochloroquine a week or two ago. Legit insane. Ashish Jha opinion piece https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/24/opinion/hydroxychloroquine-covid.html
Y'all say a prayer for me I have updated my resume and the hiring freeze at UAB has been removed and they have open tech positions. I can't take working grocery pharmacy anymore so many mask less morons and corporate would happily risk our safety in order to keep a patient or customer. I have had two different instances in 2 weeks were a patient has either had dropped off a script in the store when they knew they were positive with no mask on or picked up a script at the drive thru while coughing and after I've taken the card and done the transaction says to me you are going to use hand sanitizer right? That is my normal routine, yes sir. Good because I tested positive this morning. Excuse me, but are you mention this fucking now. Either way sorry for the rant and the awful sentencing and grammar I am just over it.
I have been tested 4 times this year, and I immediately scrubbed down the area, myself so especially the drive thru area there wasn't a huge risk, but just how people are handling it makes me sick. At least at a hospital I will know people are being limited and that everyone has had their temp taken ect. This is only going to get worse as pandemic fatigue is setting it. I see groups of people with no masks on walk the store with out a fucking care in the world.
this shit makes me so fucking furious because "the media" very much fails to talk an anywhere near an appropriate amount of shit about this goon and his colleagues
Trump is directly responsible for hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths. It should be covered nonstop.
Just watched a lady in the grocery store wipe her cart down from head to toe. She wasn’t wearing a mask though . Fucking morons everywhere I swear.
