well i have two points here 1. always roll for stats 2. you can get two to 16 with proper feat selection
1. Not in AL/Westmarches (which are the pick up games I have available around here.) 2. Valid, but does limit your build. I love sharpshooter/GWM type feats. Or with my divination wizard, luck, so I have portent and luck lol
Spoiler their first encounter with Vecna is the closest to a TPK they ever had. First encounter with the laughing hand probably the second closest C1 and C2 spoilers
Everyone found out at the end of last session that the halfling bard in the party is the lycanthrope and murderer they've been looking for. Should make for a good next session. Also one of my players swapped a vial of his blood for some mithril chain. I know i need to punish this person for giving away blood like that. Any ideas
Every night have player roll wisdom save. Someone is scrying on him every night. Just let him be tortured knowing someone is watching him. Maybe this magic user sends creepy mutated creatures to attack it at night, maybe the creatures bear messages telling the PC to come meet the magic user. Maybe eventually this leads to them finding out someone the magic user is a old lonely hag who then gives them a deal or quest line, etc.
Finally all caught up on Campaign 2! Starting on one-shots now. Just started Search For Grog. Now I need to figure out how to watch live on Thursday. I think I get a free Twitch subscription because we have Amazon Prime.
im on c1e114. gonna watch search for grog/bob, dalens closet, terry's thing, and the br before rewatching c2
Search for grog>search for Bob>dalen’s closet>the tary brigade. Grog’s bunions and flagons one shot might be my favorite one shot, either that or the Christmas one shot.
Had you been spoiled on that before the episode? I remember watching it live and just being stunned at how amazingly clutch it was and not really realizing what was happening at the time before figuring it out.
Just finished The Search For Grog Spoiler: Holy shit When they get Grog's soul back in his body and Travis immediately rolls back-to-back natural 20's and kills the demon. Poetry.
Played yesterday and discovered the joy of casting Heat Metal. No attack roll. No saving throw. Just automatically does damage with a chance to disarm or cause disadvantage. Even got two kills using it lol
Reading through the blood hunter class, I really think Tallesin had one of the worst possible builds with Molly.
While I was at home with Covid and couldn’t sleep at 3AM I was on dndbeyond making random ideas I’ll never play, but a dex based archer blood hunter order of the Mutant seemed fun and not awful.
No I'm sure there are plenty of very strong builds within the class. I just think the class has way too much going on, and i would never want to play it.
Echo knight is super good imo. will say was not super impressed by Percy’s gunslinger class but it could do good damage, feel like other fighter classes would have been better though, and Molly was as ineffective of a character as has ever been played on CR.
there's a monk in my game who is about to start multiclassing into echo knight. shoud be really annoying for the dm. my biggest problem with d&d is i think of a new build daily that i really want to try out but will never be able to.
The warforged undying warlock in my game just started a multiclass into grave cleric. Going to do a 2 level dip. He's a masterpiece of a character.
Arkharn’s barbarian/paladin multiclass is nasty. Can go reckless to get more crits the Devine smite to rack up huge damage. Also get to half damage but also be able to lay on hands to keep your HP up and get party members up
my group is building broken level 20 characters to do battle royales when we dont have enough to run our normal sessions/if the dm needs to take a week off. my current build is: hill dwarf with 20 con and tough feat sorcerer 5 for haste and metamagic bard 10 for psychic blades paladin 2 for divine smite fighter 2 for action surge cleric 1 for heavy armor bloodfury tattoo for crits on 19 because we get 1 legendary eldritch claw tattoo for 15 foot range on melee destructive wave and steel wind strike from magical secrets 1d8 from weapon, 5d6 from divine smite, 3d6 from booming blade, 5d6 from psychic blades, up to 9d6 from searing smite, 4d6 from bloodfury tat
I have played less than 50 hours of D&D, and I have this problem. honestly the cliche of 4 hour standard sessions is just too fucking long for my schedule to ever make work.
My forge cleric is level 4. At some point I want to multi-class into fighter, probably only a 3 level dip. I like to melee attack and getting action surge would be nice. I also like the idea of going Eldritch Knight at level 3, mostly because of the weapon bond. The idea of being able to magically bamf your weapon to you at any time is pretty sweet. Could potentially use his hammer as a ranged weapon that way too, and just bamf it back to his hand. I do have a question about multi-classing though: at level 5 a lot of the damage cantrips (like say, firebolt) go up one die in damage. Is that based on COMBINED level, or level in that particular class? For instance, if my level 4 cleric multi-classed to Eldritch Knight (cleric 4 fighter 3) would his first firebolt do 2d10? Or would he need to take 5 levels of fighter/Eldritch Knight for that?
you can only have one extra attack even if you get that feature from multiple classes. fighter gives extra attack additional uses, but say you get it from fighter and also paladin you still only get the one extra attack.
