Quinn the is the one they have to fire. If they fire Quinn, Patricia is dead no matter what. If they're not going to fire Quinn, firing Patricia doesn't do anything.
This is the worst end of game needing 2 score drives I've ever seen. Playcalling, execution, just baffling
Not sure it’s realistic to think we can pick top 3, but assuming we lose to the Bears, we aren’t winning another game the rest of the year, which would probably put us 4th. If Lawrence, Fields and Wilson all declare, you could get a shot at a future franchise QB.
Why fire him now? Look at Houston. They fired BOB and now have won 3 of 4. We would all be pissed if we fired Patricia and then Bevell some how won us 3 games in December. Fire Quinn tomorrow and let Patricia finish the season.
The Texans actually have some talented players. Lions just fucking suck. It don’t matter who the coach is, and we already fucked up our draft position. Fire Quinn and the fat fuck tomorrow,
I'm hoping for Zach Wilson (know we aren't getting top two QB) but know well probably take Kyle Pitts
After five minutes of google searching I found out next GM and coach. Mike Borgnozi - GM Eric Bieniemy - Coach
Don't see any slam dunks, but after seeing his name mentioned in multiple articles in convinced the Fords will hire Louis Riddick
Names I've seen mentioned in various places in my Google searches on this subject today: Ed Dobbs (Colts) George Paton (Minnesota) Mike Borgonzi (KC) Elliot Wolf (NE) Louis Riddick (ESPN) Trent Kirchner (Seattle) Joe Hortiz (Baltimore) Seems like Dobbs is the hot name right now. Borgonzi is the other name that seems to be mentioned most. Paton and Kirchner have been candidates a bunch of places previously (or at least have had their names mentioned a ton). Same with Wolf, although his star seems to have really diminished since he didn't get the head job in Green Bay. I'm guessing we chase Hortiz. We've tried and failed copying the Pats. Now I expect us to try to copy the Ravens.
I agree, but this is the first year Wolf has been there and I think he's technically just a consultant. I really don't think his association to NE is anything more than "Cleveland brought in a new GM last year and he needed a job."
Riddick/Saban 2021 Let's do it. But seriously, Riddick has said before if he ever got a GM job the first call he'd make for a HC would be to Saban. He's like 70 years old now and will never leave Bama, but I'm in.
I posted in the Michigan thread a few months ago, but I moved to Detroit in March. Just as a general observation, people are insanely loyal to the Lions. I don't understand it. They are such a trash franchise, people know they are going to lose, everyone still cares. Seems like the girl that everyone can't quit.
I mentally gave up on this franchise when I was 15 years old. It blows my mind grown adults take them seriously.
I mean what do you want people to do? Football is the biggest sport in America and its the local team. I think most Lions fans take sport in the creative ways the team finds to lose games and fuck things up.
what's Stafford's cap situation moving forward? Can we trade him to a QB-needy team this offseason? Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Chicago (would never happen) could be well-positioned to move on from their current QBs and have the talent to contend.
I believe he has a 34 mil cap hit next season, and we would be on the hook for 24 mil in dead money. While not ideal, it’s possible to move that deal. It would be a very limited pool of teams that could take the deal on though.
I’m not sure this is the best argument, considering the Giants already fired the guy who became their consolation prize for Patricia.
That guy is right by the way. Our roster has to be the least athletic in all of football. We took zero steps forward, and maybe twenty steps back. I think the best course of action is to hire a true football executive, and they go out and hire a GM who then hires a new coach. The Tom Lewand and Rod Wood’s of the world are the ones that talk to the owner the most. You need a true football person in that position before you do anything else.
Birkett is an idiot. He’s not going to be able to go to SHF, tell her he wants to fire him, when he’s been equally as bad, and was the one who hired him.
Not sure anyone knows for sure how much cap space will be out there due to COVID and the lack of revenue this year. The cap is projected to go down significantly from what I've read, but I'm not sure exactly how much or what that number is. If it goes down a lot, it's going to be tough to trade anyone who is making what Stafford does. Overthecap projects a cap next year of $176M (that's down roughly $40M from this year), and has JAX, NYJ, NE and WFT all with more than $50M+ in cap space. All of them figure to have QB needs, as well, although JAX and NYJ likely do that via the draft. I have no clue what we could get for him if we could move him. Seems like our best hope would maybe be a 2nd rounder given that he's played bad this year, but QBs are weird and it's hard to tell on that stuff. Stafford has a $33M cap hit with Detroit if he's here next season. If we trade or release him, we would have $19M in dead money on cap. The tricky thing there is he has a roster bonus for $10M that I think is due at the beginning of the league year. If we pay that, it probably helps us move him but gives us more dead $$. If we try to trade him before that bonus, it probably hurts what we can get for him.
I'm all for taking a QB 1st rd and giving them time to learn a year behind Stafford if we can't move him. This team won't be good next year no matter who is running the show and needs a gut job, may not be a bad idea to not expose a rookie QB to that. Especially depending on who we take. I mean we won't draft high enough for fields or Lawrence, if we take Trey Lance, he is a FCS QB coming off a season where he played one game. He probably needs to sit behind someone a year
