Got the set Monday. Immediately put the base together after work and figured I'd work on it a little by little. Didn't do anything with it Tuesday, came home today, sat down, and finished the whole thing. I got going and just didn't want to stop. Brought back great childhood memories
Added the LED lights to the Disney Train and station (71044). The instructions were garbage. Found a YouTube video that was mirrored the instructions and it was a time lapse that was 30 minutes. Took me about 2 hours. Had to almost take the whole thing apart to hide the wires. All that being said it is pretty awesome and my daughter loves it. Going to set up around the tree this week. I’ll try to get a better picture when we do.
So I found the Attack on the Burrow set in the wild today at Target. It was on sale, as well. Mrs Ocho has made Christmas shopping easy this year with the new found LEGO hobby.
I'm buying a bunch of the bootleg lego sets. A lot more bang for the buck. I wouldn't recommend for anyone under maybe 14 because the instructions were not written by professionals and they make a lot of assumptions. Same thing as the golden retriever set. The pieces are tiny, but it adds to the challenge. What really sucks are the 1 dot pieces. They're like 1/4 the size of the 1 dot on lego. Not sure what you're supposed to call these pieces Spoiler: One Dot?
So my family isn’t sure about doing a big get together for Christmas, so they came down this weekend. They’d hinted that they went all out this year as a last hoorah for me and my siblings before our family expands/extends, and this was what they got me
My buddy sent progress pics as he worked on it. Took him a couple of weeks, but it’s awesome when finished.
I’m hoping I can discipline myself to stretch it for a month. Worst case I think the lady and in-laws went in together and got me the Cantina set as well lol
The VW camper van is sitting started, I didn't realize that it did not have numbered bags. I opened it while I was kinda high and like an idiot dumped all of the bags into one big cardboard thing. Hunting out small pieces sucks. This thing is going to take so much longer than it should.
Took Meatball up to a Portland area mall to check out the Lego Store. Ended up buying the grand piano for a guy I work with. He wanted me to pick him up the Colosseum too but they were out. The set they had on display was fucking gorgeous. Wanted to get something for me but didn’t want to pull the trigger on the Stranger Things set after dropping 350 on the piano
Tomorrow is 2021 release day and lil Mo is jacked up. Can’t wait to go to the Lego store to pick up a set or two.
Closest LEGO store for me is 2+ hours away but I’m considering going over in next week or two to check it out, haven’t been to one in over a year. Anyone big on the HP legos, and get the new little classroom books? Wife loves HP and them being a smaller build seems up her alley.
We got two sets and were out. Social distancing and ten minutes per visitor so eventually got in. New sets look great. Not sure if the White House is new but it’s impressive.
Two lego city sets my boys picked out. Lego city El Barco Flota - police boat set Other one was a police car and a robber drill thing.
Oh man, this is getting delivered today. So damn excited. Hard part will be convincing my 4 year old that this is mine
How is that x wing set? It somehow looks bigger but has fewer pieces than the Porkins x wing from I think 2012 or 2013?
It was Luke’s Xwing set 75301 They start you off building the nose and the cockpit. Then the next section is the wing housing which was pretty intricate, you finish with assembling the s foils and attaching them to the ship it took me a little longer than usual because I’m pretty out of practice but overall it was a fun build for 50 bucks. I’ll sit on it for a day or two and then will eventually give it to Meatball
Never noticed that. Really cool touch. The Apollo Saturn V is such a great set. It's awesome how it breaks into the 3 parts. The details are great too. I love the sets where they label/sticker the pieces for you. On the ones where you get a sticker you have to put on, mine are always angled a bit and look like crap.
I finished this over the weekend. It was a fun build. It's one of those microblocks (1/2 size of lego) builds. My wife was putting together a flamingo one in the background.
Not sure if you guys have seen these, but you can get almost every stadium and other cool things for your favorite sports teams for cheap. They're the small pieces from China, but I enjoy building them more than legos. I sent my parents a Chiefs Andy Reocho helmet and it looks pretty damn cool. It's great for an office. Do any of you guys have a Bricks & Minifigs store where you live? we have one, sets are overpriced but it does have its merits. Spent 6 bucks on a Gonk droid mini-fig and Meatball is so jealous.
Started a huge project son over the years had a ton of sets police station, fire station, bulldozer, etc put all the blocks in a huge bin and I am separating them by color and bagging them in one gallon zip locks. After I’m done I am gonna rebuild all the sets. Then take them apart again and bag by set. One day his kids will have complete sets they just have to build
I made a complete mess of the pieces for the VW Camper, you guys recommend sorting by color to re-start the build?
I bought storage bins for screws at Lowe's and sort all mine in seperate containers. I only bought 4 containers, but it's definitely nice to presort and have them where it's easy to find. I also do the mini-Legos so I need less space and they don't sort them by the step like Lego does. Rows go 1x1, 1x2, 1x3....1x12 Random, 2x2, 2x3....2x12 Then pretty much the same, but different colors Etc.
