Yeah I think so. But of course that would require us not stepping on our own dicks. So far Illinois seems to be the fluke. We've lost to three top 20 teams. Two of them by 8 and 6 points. The other is elite and we hung around for a bit.
Was shocked we didn’t see some terrible calls because I think Kelly Pfiefer (sp?) was in the house reffing.
Something that isn't a fluke, and the reason why this is reality: And just to be clear, the record never mattered this year. The way we went about our business was always most important and well...see the bolded text in your own post.
If Ohio State is ineligible for the Championship game I wonder if they get seeded as #2 or 7 in the final weekend.
As we enjoy this season together celebrating the birth of Doctor Thom Osborne, I share with the topic, 2’s GOAT Christmas ornament collection.
Michigan State leads NW 17-13 going into the 4th quarter. One of our “good losses” is on the ropes, hope it doesn’t hurt us on selection Sunday
Two programs that are basically clones at this point. Stuck in the past, feel like only a person with ties to the program can lead them back, think they deserve to be good in 2020 because they are a “blue blood”....can’t wait for Husker fans to sell a win over 2-6 Michigan.
It’s really nice Coach Farts is going to let Brohm and Diaco break their three game losing streak next weekend.
Frost and Verdu have to be loving this QB matching in the NFL today between Taysom Hill and Denver’s converted practice squad WR.
Yeah the recruiting, player development, etc was terrible, but he contributed exactly nothing to the necrotizing culture that seems to doom any and all progress in our athletic department. I'll say it, I miss coach grandpa. Hold 'em close while they're hear because once they're gone you'll regret it
And actually, if I had to choose between who had better chance of turning things around at this very point in time, I'd say Mike Riley. Frost's golden boy narcissism is end stage. All the stuff we know he needs to change, he'll change exactly none of it. Riley at least had a modicum of humility and self-awareness that allowed him to change course. Clarify one more tim in advance-- I do not want coach Riley back. But I have exactly zero, flat fucking zero, faith that Frost will improve anything from here out. It'll only get worse as he continues to double down on his own bullshit and blame external forces.
The thing that stinks is I’m just not sure who Frost would hire as AC if he’s forced to fire some of these dudes. Who wants to jump on a possible sinking ship? Does Frost hire anyone he doesn’t know? I think the only “outsider” is Tuioti, and the DL has improved imo. If he could maybe pull a couple hires like that out, my hope could be salvaged but I don’t trust anyone involved to not make a hire worth a crap anymore.
Keep in mind, improvement is graded on a curve relative to the last two years and also in comparison to the regression at other positions. That said, I do think Daniels and Robinson have been OK most of the time if not better than that. I think the bigger issue continues to be the scheme they are trying to run, which seems to need an elite pass rusher at DE/OLB, and also good athletes that are able to cover slot guys and TEs. It seems like they are continuously relying on LBs like Miller or Honas to make plays against the pass. There also seems to be multiple plays per game where the LBs just whiff on a tackle at the LOS, but the DL actually did their job to take up space.
Wish we were running a nickel base honestly with a dude like Farmer at the nickel slot. If I’m going to rely on a hybrid at Nebraska it seems a lot easier to find a big safety that can play a little LB than a big LB that can play DE.
Was actually thinking that DIsmuke should have moved to OLB for one of those stiffs. He did a good job filling against Iowa. Then Farmer can get reps at safety.
I was thinking about coach Harry Potter this morning. I think we have a couple of good athletes but neither have any pocket presence. I honestly don’t know how much of that can be taught, and how much is instinctive. Both QBs panic the moment there is a little pressure and break the pocket.
This but also do we have an OL coach? Do people teach snapping? Does he actually snap well in practice then turns to shit in games? I’d be surprised if it’s not some favorite son bullshit keeping turf toe snapper on the field.
legit laughed and also.. eh not bad. god our program sucks, third reichorst made coach grandpa fire his best friend to bring in Mike Ekeler with more Red Bull and responsibility
