I think the majority of fans/boosters are desperate to get back to where you were only 7ish years ago however I’m not sure what the tone is on the FSU private board but do share
Yeah, but maybe first they need to win more games than they lose. And then go from there. Maybe returning to a winning program and the tier below Clemson would allow them to start bringing in better players at that point. Just saying when you are as bad as Florida State or Nebraska, you’re skipping some steps if you think you’re immediately going to compete with Ohio State and Clemson for conference championships.
Well no shit we would like to be elite again. The next step in my eyes on the way back to being elite is to have an 8 to 9 win season where you show momentum/promise and can sell that to recruits. Not going to just snap our fingers and be competing with Clemson again
After seeing them jettison Willie after only 1.5 seasons I don’t think they are trying the slow but steady incline approach
While several boosters wanted to reach out to Miami's Mark Richt, and Mack Brown had expressed interest, Wilcox's list was narrow: Vanderbilt's Derek Mason, recently fired Texas coach Charlie Strong and Kevin Sumlin, whom Fisher replaced at Texas A&M. When another administrator suggested Willie Taggart, Wilcox scoffed, believing Taggart wouldn't leave Oregon's lavish facilities after just a year on the job there. those candidates
"They wanted to run this playbook with freaking five plays in it," one former player said. "I'm sorry this isn't the MAC. They're going to catch on to it, and that's exactly what happened." "There were makeshift practices that occasionally meant assistants didn't know what they were doing until they arrived on the field. Taggart allowed music to blare over the speakers at practice, perhaps the most publicly tangible departure from Fisher. Fans latched onto the gesture as symbolic of a lackadaisical approach that defined the team's game-day performance. Players soon began to revolt."
High school recruiting really isn't the most important thing now. He's going to have to try to do what manny did in the portal to win games before good HS kids will be interested. Nobody can expect his kind of hit rate, but I think that's the only path forward.
Norvell is in the perfect situation in terms of a rebuild because no matter how angry the boosters get, there isn't nearly enough money to fire him before he's had 4 seasons to try and get shit fixed.
I am trying to figure out why Florida State has a banner for the 2005 Orange Bowl that was played between Oklahoma and Southern Cal...
Kid had the only alpha attitude on the whole OL when he got here. He just has the Taggart work ethic. I still think he can be a monster if someone can get through to him and get him to buy in.
What is a tier below clemson? I would say that is Florida/Georgia/Oklahoma which seems like they are multiple head coaches and recruiting class away from. Maybe just the ACC competitive tier should be their initial target. That miami/virginia tech/unc/louisville tier.
I don’t hate either of you, I let little shit get to me too much honestly. You seem like a good guy who’d be fun to have beers with, my bad man. Boo MFer!
So this is not one of those addition by subtraction scenarios that I’ve heard a lot of during this mass exodus from the program?
Probably one of the only likable kids on defense. Dude has played his ass off through injury and everything else and never made a peep.
