The issue I have with this comment is "further the idea." We have to accept that there is never going to be one idea. We are at a point where there are more than one truth even if one of them is false, and worrying about any idea shouldn't matter. I had concerns about prosecuting him. I know it is going to be a "look they are prosecuting their political enemies thing", but if you do what is right that goes away in time because everyone will recognize that it was warranted and that he attempted to destroy our Democracy to enrich himself. Every other politician who did a fraction of what he did had to face justice. Just do what is right based on the real truth and let the chips fall where they may.
I couldn't care less about that rationale. The focus has to be on did he break laws and try to destroy our Democracy, and if we let him get away with it, will it encourage others to do the same, and possibly allow him to continue to do it.
