Seems like George camp is putting pressure on Mercedes. I could see Redbull making the effort to get George after the 21 season when essentially every major top tier driver is a free agent. If Max bolts to Ferrari or Mercedes, Redbull is gonna need a #1 and I don't see them going after Lewis or Lewis wanted to drive in a non Mercedes engine
Lol I haven’t rewatched that. Locks em up, gets lucky the AT left the inside open, and then complains.
Whoa whoa whoa guys... .a whole lot of recency bias going on in thinking Perez could challenge Max or beat him on any consistent type basis. Sergio just won a race (his first one ever) in which Merc took out both of their cars from contention, Lewis didn't race, and Max and Charles were knocked out in the first lap. Good for him for getting the win but he hasn't done anything to truly show he's close to Max's level.
I'm sure Gasly is gonna just move aside so the guy to took his seat at RB could clear him. ffs I would've fired him right after that race and promoted Gasly back lol
Challenging him doesn't mean he will beat Max out weekly. But stay within .1 or .2 of Max with the occasional outright better race. Right now Albon isn't within .6 of Max. That's what I'm saying and I think most others but I wont speak for them.
Ocon at this point has similar (if not more) pedigree than Russell. A few years back he was the up and coming driver in Merc's program - he just plateaued from there. He out-qualified Perez both years at Force India. Russell just has the intangibles that make him the obvious candidate for the top drive that Ocon is lacking.
Bottas isn't going to make a stink to be paid multi millions to race for Williams. He can't win a title in the best car and really can't come close. I doubt he gives one fuck at this point. Cash that check and hope to work an extension with Williams for being a "team player" would be my goal if I was him.
I’m just going to throw this out there guys....in my f1 career mode, Lewis went to Williams in the 2021 season
Oh please let George have one more shot in that seat this year!!! Also, more importantly, I hope that Lewis is getting better. Was interesting when they said during the race last week that he was definitely not asymptomatic and was feeling quite ill.
George going to RBR would shock me. People that come up through development programs bite the hand that feeds at their peril.
Why would anyone even consider Red Bull unless you like tasting Max's balls. After Christian, of course.
You like money and actually have the chance to win? RB one of 2 teams right now that can offer both those things.
I get what you mean but for me it's more like from 100 down to 80. I love this damn sport/league/whatever you call it. I'm only 2 years in to following it and am completely obsessed. I'm still in the "honeymoon" phase lol. Every race still feels new and exciting to me. It's a new experience for me as an adult. My entire life I've always been a football fan as well as a golf fan so F1 is unique in that it's really about the only new entertainment product I've adopted as an adult.
The broadcast might be done the best of any sport. It's everything that people bitch about in golf is done perfectly here. Starting with the lack of commercials but also the commentary. If the people that did golf broadcasts did F1, in a race that Lewis was leading by 30 seconds you wouldn't see another car. F1 shows all of the action taking place on track.
Good point....and then when they see that there is meaningful conversation going on, on the radio the announcers STFU! So damn annoying in golf when the shitty announcers constantly talk over player/caddie exchanges.
Ted gets told STFU 4 times each broadcast. They always decide to play audio 2 seconds after they go to him.
I finally got a chance to watch the race last night. I was able to avoid spoilers but knew something crazy happened. That shit was wild. I’m happy for Checo.I want a George - Max rivalry for the next decade
Honestly had never thought about this. To be clear, too, Sky coverage is 1000x better than the old regime.
Watching the doc called The 24 Hour War on Netflix about LeMans and the Ford/Ferrari battle over the years in the 60's. Learned that Dan Gurney who was one of the two drivers that won in the Ford GT in the '67 race celebrated by getting the huge bottle of champagne after the race and sprayed it on everyone around him in the winners circle. No one had ever done that before and it's the reason why every significant race in Europe and every F1 race ends with the winners doing the same thing. All because of a goddam red blooded 'merican!
Last race of the year. Will we finally get our Max vs. Lewis race? Hope Lando can stay connected to the top 4.
