I recorded the Nebraska 11:00 game yesterday and didn’t watch it until about 10:30. I was irked not to find it on my YTTV recordings (usually it would just pop up on my Home Screen like most recent recorded games). After a lot of poking around I found it in the “completed games” area (I have it set to record all cfb), but it was listed as “unavailable”. I had to hold my arm up so I could see the MN and Neb logos but not the score! Eventually I realized it had migrated to the Fox Sports app. So I installed that on my Roku TV. Found the game replay there. Commercials removed! And two taps forward was just about the right time in between Gophers plays so I watched the latest Husk debacle in about 1.5 hours. I had a Vikings game disappear similarly earlier this season so I thought I’d share in case any of you had this particular issue.
**OLD MAN WARNING** SO basically all I need to do is get a Roku tv, hook it up to wifi and then go from there, correct? Is that the best, easiest and cheapest way? I plan on reading a lot in this thread later, but I'm at work rn and this is Christmas present time sensitive so that's why I'm asking.
Correct. Suppose.tv is the website you want to reference for cost and channel availability. Not sure what teams you watch, or sports, but it can get tricky if you want everything in this manner. TCL is your best bet in regards to TVs imo. Then you have to consider where your TV is in relation to your router. If it’s close you should be fine. If not you may need to consider a wireless mesh solution. More on that later if you need help.
You don't have to get a Roku TV. You can get any TV you want then just purchase a stand alone Roku too if the TV you get isn't a SmartTV or if it has some sort of other operating system you don't like/want.
if you have a prime account, look into a fire stick/fire tv. Nice because they come set up with your prime account
I say this only because I’ve had to clarify on past occasions, even though it’s probably not necessary here: you have to pay to subscribe to most services to get stuff to watch. It does not come with the tv/player.
Thank you. It’s been a trying time (not really, but I was getting a bit nervous with the movies set to come out next year)
Roku built into my TCL updated its live TV guide and added a shit ton of streaming channels from other streaming services so now i have like 1000 free channels. This is awesome.
I only ever had my locals on my live TV guide and had to go to the roku channel app or Pluto or one of those other free channel apps to watch them. They integrated their free channel app into my antenna channels so it all looks like one thing now.
Well that’s interesting. I didn’t realize I got pac12 network, along others. Of course, oan is also on there, so I need to figure out how to block that channel. But this is neat
Looks like they tried to do that with subscription apps like hbo in July but people didn’t like it so they pulled it.
That’s awesome and a great concept. Like you mentioned in another post I could sit down and have espn+, peacock and cbs integrated on one screen, money. With just the sports (or live TV event) on a clickable guide and interface, I don’t care, I’d fucking pay for it.
I think the key is live interface. No reason you need that if you’re rewatching Sopranos. You know where to go, don’t need to learn another shitty interface to get to something you pay for and can already navigate. However, watching weekly show on HBO, go to your “live feed”. I think there’s more than a clear delineation between live and on demand viewers at this point in time.
Same. As lax bros I suggest we form an alliance. Don’t let anyone else know, there may be competing alliances.
i actually don't have a current use for a chromecast. i just don't like being left out AND i like free things
my tracking says it’s set to deliver today and also says it’s currently in arkansas so not sure what to think
This is me. I have had YTTV for years but did cancel during those couple weeks when the Fox Sports networks were dropped and then re-upped when a deal was reached. I assume that is why I don't get the offer. Feelsbadman
With basketball and hockey starting up it really annoys me that Sinclair pulled regional fox sports from all streaming platforms. would gladly pay for nba league pass or center ice if it didn’t black out some “local” games
Does anyone know when Samsung's exclusive hold on the HBO Max app for non Roku tvs ends? It's killer not being able to have it right in my Vizio.
Not sure where to post about non-Netflix shows, but y'all should really give "The Expanse" a shot if you haven't. Might be my favorite show at the moment; it's on Amazon Prime.
Yeah I started a Hulu thread. Probably non-Netflix show would be a better title. Fwiw got like 3/4 episode into that and bailed. I’ll give it a go again.
Any tips/info on washed out dark spots/scenes? I’ve noticed it happening on multiple Roku devices, from a streaming stick on a 2013ish Black Friday special TV to a brand new 4K TCL Roku TV on WiFi clocking well over 200mps.
