if most of the country is having an evaluation problem, then yes because those kids had some pretty elite offers, especially Buchner and Phil
Take our lumps with Buchner in hopes that he can get the experience to be good in year 2 and elite in year 3. I’d rather go 8-5 next year with the potential of being an actual playoff contender down the line instead of being playoff fringe while never really having a chance. Of course, this plan rests on the idea of a QB actually growing in the program instead of regressing or stagnating.
I mean, we can't answer this question without knowing who is available. If we're taking the kid from Wisconsin to maybe give a slight chance of improving from 8-4 to 9-3, then no thanks. I haven't seen any names in the portal that have me going OH BOY, but even a 2020 version of a Newman/Daniels level transfer would be a take to me. Why are we automatically assuming its good for Buchner's development to play 12 games as a freshman, probably look like shit, and maybe wrecking his trajectory vs. sitting and learning behind a 5th year senior for a year knowing the show is his for 2-3 years in 2022?
This stat essentially means if they start out with two 7-play drives resulting in a TD and a FG, we are holding them to their average lol
Agree that it obviously depends on who is available in the portal. I'd gladly take JT Daniels type transfer if someone like that becomes available and it might just happen but I wouldn't take Coan unless he's willing to play a bench role (meaning he might start a handful of games but he has to know that Buchner or someone else will start later in the season). Too many unknowns right now and the coaches are focused on the playoffs as they should be, but it does sound like they are open to it and then we just let the chips fall where they may.
Attractive but why would he come to ND. Running back room is getting pretty full. Penn State would be a great destination. Their RB group went from top shelf to 4th string in a hurry
exactly, my initial reaction was that it would be a great fit but I really don’t want him to take reps away from tyree
Only backs we have like him are an undersized C'Bo and a kid who is not yet on campus. I think we have room for a bruiser.
Unless something has changed from the time when I was trying to transfer to ND (and IrishLAX2 took my spot), it's going to be almost impossible for any undergrad to transfer in.
What? All they have to do is sneak onto a field turf manager's cot for a few years and befriend a local priest.
Team play who you have unless D'Errik King wants to play for a winner. Only reason to take a guy unless he is elite or Clark's i jury is worse than they've put out there.
The university and admissions department would have to allow players to transfer in who wouldn't be on track to graduate in 4 years. And basically the only way you can transfer in and still be on track to graduate on time is if you're taking the same classes at [insert other school here] as you would be taking at ND. Which means that to transfer into ND you have to plan your class schedule around what ND wants, not what the requirements for your current major at your current school are.
Great point. No matter how our defense fares, it is clear the offense is going to have to score a lot of points. A lot. Red zone sputters and poor FG kicking means we are in for a long night, no matter how stout our defense plays vs. The Bama offense.
Charlie Brewer from Baylor was a player I thought could make a team better instantly. He obviously picked Utah, but that is the only QB I have seen that could make a real difference.
reading Clark Lea's comments today and some of the players as well, it sounds like it's some guys freelancing and not doing their assignments properly that got the defense out of sync the past couple of games hopefully they can be assignment sound and trust each other against Bama because they are definitely going to need it I know Bama has the best offensive weapons and a better oline than Clemson, but I would still rather face them than have to play against Trevor. That guy is just a different type of player that is just so hard to stop.
Dang. Had he stayed, ND would have old man safety Sr. and old man safety jr. Such a missed opportunity
XM guys talking about ND being Urban’s dream job and speculating that ND would give him “Lou” rules to get kids in is testing my pants. Mike Farrel’s creepy ass to be exact.
Man we gotta drop the Urban thing, Brian Kelly is kind of rolling right now. He's not going anywhere and by the time he does Urban will be too old
Eh, we have a pretty crowded RB room. 3 guys who are already earmarked for the majority of the carries next season (Stevie Scott All B1G, Sampson James (4 star SO flipped from OSU, and David Ellis FR) unless Stevie Scott leaves a year early. If that happens then I could see it.
i honestly dont think kyle hamilton deserves first team all american. On the flipside Aaron Banks couldve snuck into 2nd team AA
Yeah I almost mentioned this yesterday. When I saw he was the guest I was legitimately shocked. He seemed like he still has some love for ND.
did a spit take when I saw that a few days ago, wondered what year's OU team they were talking about because its not this year's
The ou defense bounced back really well the 2nd half of the season. And Florida is down 4 wrs and pitts. So I’m guessing the answer will be no.
