Madison claiming that he was considering transferring to The Harvard Extension School after one semester of college with a 1.0 GPA is classic Cawthorn. The people that voted for him are so dumb that they will assume he went to Harvard because of this.
"Cawthorn describes himself as a Christian and a constitutional conservative." Hey Sitler, I will bet my bottom dollar that as of this moment you have neither read the Bible or the Constitution in their entirety.
Not only attending Annapolis, but also playing football there. Of course he was rejected for what I’m guessing was an 850 on his SAT but why should all this spoil such an inspirational story?!
I don't think he even got a recommendation from a congressmen. Like he just filled out an application and that was it or something absurd
He did. It was Mark Meadows. Who later went on to be Trumps chief of staff. Conveniently, Cawthorn took that seat.
There’d a Reddit thread discussing it and they said employers get listed for individual donations? I’m not sure if that makes sense but could be why it shows up?
he admitted under oath in a deposition related to his “crash” that he had been denied by them before his “accident”
Western NC outside of Asheville and Boone is much closer culturally to WV, Kentucky, or Tennessee. It’s 99% white mountain folks who never leave their county, have seen their regional economies decline for decades and have Fox News to tell them it’s the Democrats (ie brown people and educated people) fault.
We spent the better part of a week up there after Christmas. After 2 days, my wife remarked that she hadn't see a single Trump sticker or flag up there. Everyone wore a mask and it was great. The next day we drove to Beech Mountain and somewhere along the drive we ended up in Trumpville. Big trucks with flags, no masks, just the complete opposite. Crazy how quick it turns. Old trailers and dilapidated houses with huge Trump signs out front. I'll never understand it.
it is the core and foundation of “white supremacy”. We might be poor we might be on the margins but at least we’re white. It’s the result of investment in whiteness as a commodity this nation always practiced. The fear of losing that is what gives us Trump and his ilk.
"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
Buncombe and Watauga are pretty culturally conservative IMO, at least from my perspective dealing with the courts. Bumcombe has gotten better since they got Moore out of there. He was a traditional southern dem who allegedly wore six shooters on his hip in the office. Asheville as a city is refreshingly progressive for the area, although it has a strong trustafarian vibe to it—very much the Boulder of the South. Boone is just a college town with a single street of hippy bars. I think it’s a stretch to distinguish it from the surrounding area.
It’s like a fridge or a cell phone. Things only the rich have so it’s a commodity only the privileged have. You’ve been lawyered.
The primary reason I noted Boone is it pushed Watauga county blue in 2020. I’d say that’s worth mentioning for an Appalachian based county during a Trump election.
Word, I get what you’re saying. It does have some quirky charm too, even if it’s only confined to a couple blocks on King St. I think the vote is prob due to App St comprising close to 50% of the county population rather than Boone being a bastion for liberalism, tho. The political machine and local government is still extremely conservative regardless of the letter in front of the candidate. God help you if you get caught with a bag of weed there; they treat you like the Inquisition
In fairness to the town we had noticed some improvement over the years, and my intel is a couple years out of date.
I'm going to come in with a hot take and say that making fun of anyone for being in a wheelchair is in bad taste, especially when there's plenty of other things to pick up on.
when you’re a Nazi White Supremacist it’s all fair game, fuck that guy.......he uses his disability as a shield for sympathy so he can be a Nazi and not get as much flack for it
This is my point. There's plenty to abuse him about without lowering yourself. Whatever, I've said my piece but I'm not going to die on this hill.
he’ll never die on top of any hill because he can’t wheel himself up there got em and just a reminder being a fascist who loses use of their legs after getting in a car wreck in which he was switching seats with his friend is not a disability
Let’s be better and not make fun of the Nazi is literally a take I’d hope to never see but here we are.
Dude lied about how he got in the chair and then used the lies to get himself elected. Sitler is fair game. You reap, we sow.
No, it’s mostly - don’t make fun of a dude who has 100 abhorrent traits for the one that includes an entire group of people who get shit on regularly in society, and is something that actually shouldn’t be seen as a negative.
