Just to clarify the thread title. It's fine to post spoilers in this thread as long as you use the spoiler tag? The TV board we can post spoilers freely? Or do not post spoilers at all in the TV board thread?
Spoilers in here. Post away on TV board. Of course if you think you’re going to ruin a future episode with something you’ve picked up on spoiler it over there as well.
YIIIIIIIIKES. Maybe I should stop hurrying up to post on TMB at red lights while driving. Don’t even care, leaving it!
Been watching Ultimate Spider Man all day. Loki just turned Pete into Spider-Ham and now Skurge and the rest of Asgard are hunting him. This shit it is f’n lit.
I enjoyed it but I feel like it's a mistake to just release those two episodes and go weekly. Doing a 50s and 60s style sitcom just isn't really going to grab peoples attention enough and people just won't tune in a week from now. Obviously a lot of us will but doesn't feel like they thought that through especially with how short it is when you take away the credits along with the very limited "something is not right here" moments
The general approach is fine because of all the hidden messages and how crazy things will get next week. My biggest critique is that the MCU is histories biggest pop culture phenomenon because EVERYONE loved it. From 5 year olds to 80 year olds it entertained us all. Me, a mid-30s comic book nerd LOVED ep 1&2, my 6 year old hated them. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.
The wife and I loved it. Can’t wait for next week could definitely see how kids wouldn’t enjoy it though.
Loved both episodes too. It'll probably eventually get somewhat close to the Marvel most know, but these episodes just shows that Disney let's Feige do whatever the fuck he wants...and that's awesome.
It's not staying 50's/60's. They're moving it up after that first intro episode. Hence why it became color near the end of the second.
Glenn Howerton would’ve been great as Star Lord, but Pratt crushed it. Marvel still needs to find a multi movie role for Howerton.
Idk man, my wife loved it and wants to watch those episodes again today... she has literally never once wanted to watch a super hero thing twice
Was really surprised my 10 y/o liked it as much as he did. He's just a casual MCU fan but really liked the humor and style of the 50s sitcom.
How many of you have rewatched Captain Marvel since the theater? Wu and Dirtball, not withstanding. Also, outside of entire MCU rewatches. Followup - does the way she handles the gauntlet/Thanos at the end of Endgame fall in line with her depiction to that point, or do you think she would/should have been more likely to believe she could wield the gauntlet once Spidey gave it to her?
Interesting question, she probably could have wielded it, but I think part of the reason stark wielded it successfully is because he was so connected to both the new people of the last 5 years and those that got dusted
Maybe I liked the soundtrack, don't judge. Not exactly, but not because she couldn't. More like at that time she hadn't been used in movies enough to let her have that big of a moment instead of Iron Man using the gauntlet. I think she would've been more likely to believe she could use it though, but at the same time would know enough to be wary of using it.
I skip a couple movies on MCU rewatches. Thor 2, Captain Marvel, Iron Man 3. I don’t even list Incredible Hulk.
Karen Gillan is doing daily lockdown updates and she's getting more aggressively Scottish as time goes by.
Meanwhile in Atlanta filming continued for the next Spider-Man movie, new costume with very minor differences the last one in spoilers Spoiler
My lord. I’m freaking jacked about the theory I posted in the WV thread. Like less than .0001% it’s what’s happening/will happen but my lord Feige would ascend to reign over heaven and earth if I’m right.
This is really harsh on Captain Marvel. It's not great, but it's not close to being that bad. I've found it enjoyable on occasional rewatch and like it more than I did the first time I saw it. At the very least there's some fun moments in there, even if the big, serious stuff doesn't land like they think it does.
Captain Marvel isn’t my first choice for a re-watch but I’ve seen it like 6-8 times since the theatrical release. Mostly for Mendelsohn reasons, dude is so money in this flick. The Yon-Rogg/Vers plot hole is whatevs. The soundtrack treads a scootch into the “too on the nose” territory but it’s not a MCU movie I’d casually skip unlike Thor 2, IM3, or The Incredible Hulk
Agreed. It has its flaws from a plot/pacing/editing standpoint, but a lot of the character interactions are fun.
I’d watch the climax of Captain Marvel set to No Doubt a million times over. Rest is meh. Sam Jackson is good and their interactions are well written.
