So I don't love scotch and asian stuff to me leans more towards that end of the spectrum, that being said Nikka Coffey is delicious.

 

Iwai is a good and affordable (~$40) place to start.

What’s a legit secondary price for the GTS 20? Found a bottle for 500. Also found a shenks for 200. This store always has really high prices so I’m very leery of them.

Yea I don’t really get the 500 for GTS and 1000 for THH. Unless maybe it’s a different year bottle?

 

I bought a shenks for 120, and bombergers for 140.

 

Grabbed a Maker’s 101 and I like it better than cask strength or 46. This is a good proof for Makers.

 

I thought it was easier to drink than the CS, at a slight cost in flavor. I'd like to try it head to head with 46. Agreed that it seems to be a sweet spot of sorts.

Hot take: Sam Houston 14 is a great bottle... I’d argue $120 is reasonable. It’s really good.

If you want to treat yourself, just grab a bottle of this and let go of the BTAC/Pappy chase.

I was in a store the other day and someone came in looking for Benchmark. The owner told them his rep told him that BT was holding on to tons of barrels of what would have been benchmark in order to make more BT/Eagle Rare to keep up with the demand. Dude was irate and started cussing out hipsters.. Felt bad for him... he just wants to go about his alcoholic business and us bourbon snobs have ruined it for him.

The Yellowstone reminds me a lot of Rowans creek.

 

I’d be fascinated to see whether he could distinguish it from Ancient Age or Old Charter.
