Base xpac is $40. $60 gets you a level 50 (120 before level squish) boost in addition to the base shadowlands
Really enjoying Shadowlands. Lots to do in the expansion so far. Got capped for the week in Torghast, ran all the Mythic dungeons and have been grinding dailies for Anima. Also got 5 mounts this weekend.
Can you guys elucidate what is "fun" about the game? I have heard people say that for the past 5 years, yet I never see what is different or changed about the game. When I watch Twitch streams it looks exactly like BFA/Legion in terms of the design. I see a lot of people complaining about Blizzard using mobile game gimmicks trying to milk them for time/money as well. Can't support a company like that.
I enjoy doing new content. Farming new mounts. Learning new dungeons. They took away PvP scaling so gear matters again and you can easily grind PvP gear. Excited about the new raid tier. I like the new zones. Playing new specs for my classes is refreshing. I agree that the in game store is trash for mounts and pets, but I don't buy that stuff so it doesn't matter. I participate in the Secret Finder discord and like cracking puzzles for mounts and pets. Gaining more power with each expansion makes running old content easier for gear appearances and mounts easier. I also enjoy playing the game with my friends.
Honestly wow isn't even remotely close to the in-game monetization of modern pc games. I assume the monthly subs insulate it from that somewhat. As far as time sinks go... I mean, it's an mmo. That's kind of what the game is
Also affliction feels terrible currently. I might switch to my hunter since they are apparently op and I had fun with it during the prepatch
These heroics are wayyyyyyyyy overtuned. 3/10 progression is 59th in the world on our server and we're 306th. I expect a blizzard nerf next week on the raids and spriest will get nerfed because of the fights :sadface:
Its not a gear thing either, we got 1 kill early on but just the damage going out is enough to wipe a group popping all coolies.
Mythic+ is fairly tough too. Biggest complaint is that it feels that nearly every mob has something that should be kicked.
Apparently layer six of twisting corridors is where pug’ing gets tough. So many dumb dumbs that can’t avoid the big AOE swirlies.
Is it me, or is this expansion difficult? I definitely know my guild has some incredibly trash people on the roster that I wish we would cut, but I don't get to make those business decisions. We made a goal to try and push Mythic raiding content, and can't even get 4/10 Heroic. Plus some of these M+ Dungeons are insanely difficult, especially on Tyrannical week.
One side effect of corruption going away is that our characters aren’t on a exponential power curve as the patch goes on. I’m not sure I’d say difficult but it is certainly challenging, partially artificially so, and tougher than BFA. The lack of gear from PvE is really noticeable. My main is ilvl 207. Some of the M+ dungeons are definitely overturned too. Overturning can always be overcome with gear though... Im hoping in 9.1 they put out a badge system for PvE. With all of the lowering of drop rates (and M+ chests just having lower-than-heroic ilvl for a 15 which is bullshit) it’s just really slow to gear up compared to Legion and BFA. The unfortunate thing is that ilvl really makes a big difference in your power too. An ilvl 215 dps does about 25% damage than at ilvl 205. The best (or st least most consistent) way to gear up is pvp but if you’re not good at pvp and/or not a meta class it will be challenging to get a high enough rating for the >210 gear.
Yeah, my hunter is 207 as well. Challenging is a good way to put it. Very punishing mechanics if you mess them up. I may be looking at switching to a different raiding guild after this tier if things don't start trending in the right direction. I would like to be AOTC each tier, and it's not happening with this raid team. We have this one guy that specs into MM hunter for some fights, BM for other fights, and switches in between both on Progress Bosses. I wouldn't mind it if he was doing more DPS than the tanks. People on the team only want to top the meters and that's not the mind set to have.
Yeah I would switch too. I’ve only bothered with Normal. Switching to BM is completely dumb given how well MM performs.
We also have an Affliction lock that has a habit of breaking the CC on the Barghest Shades with his pets and doing sub 2k DPS. He is also complaining that he wants to switch to Demonology. He rage quit on us last night on Huntsman.
They planning on introducing TBC? I’ve got a 46 hunter that is a pita to level up Bc I’ve been questing in zones a few levels higher than I should be and now I’m stuck
Feel like the best option (for the players) is the ability to do a one time copy of your classic character to new TBC servers
Honestly I think you might have to get exalted with like 4 different factions to do the heroics. And old school exalted by basically dungeon grinding, not through some slick quest line Fuck that noise
isle of quel'danas was dope. my guild died because early tk and ssc were too hard for us, so i did pvp mainly. there will be so many druids and warlocks
Didn’t you have to get keyed/attuned for some of the early dungeons? I remember Shadow Labs being a huge bitch requiring multiple different hero classes and CC abilities to get through it, at least initially. Kara is still one of my favorite raids when I used to play the game. KT as well.
