yeah unless they expect land some of the elite DL talent reserved for Bama & Clemson there’s absolutely no reason he shouldn’t be at the very top of their recruiting board
it’s pretty clear ND had been only offer long ass dudes on the DL the last two years. That squad more resembles a high school basketball team than DL
I think Kiser and/or Liufau will be in the mix at rover too. Dropoff won’t be as bad as it was going from Tranquill to Bilal.
Those rules are all stupid. I'm glad we are breaking them and the penalties don't matter so I don't even care that we got caught.
What was described happened every single day in my HS (and others). Coach would call you to his office for film and oh wow whoops forgot I had a meeting with coach x at the same time - hey coach want you to meet so and so player of mine
It's about damned time we tried. Any decent, non-trash food chains within striking distance we can get some bags from to hand out to recruits? None of that proletariat fast food crap employed by certain less-classy programs, mind you.
https://247sports.com/player/cooper-barkate-46093939/ We offered him and hopefully will get him. Kid is majorly under the radar and is a great athlete. We offered as a safety but I could see him playing WR.
Now my pick for SR who finally puts its together. He’s playing next to Hamilton and he’s at least ten years younger than last years starter.
waiting for Loy to say that he let us know first that Griffith maybe, possibly could come back if he didn’t choose another school after entering the transfer portal.
“As I and i alone reported a few weeks ago, this was always a god possibility of happening. As I reported, the coaches worked hard behind the scenes and as I reported was possible at the time, Houston made a business decision after meeting with new DC Marcus freeman”
OK I will count this as one transfer in Would still like to see a transfer DB of any type Would be ok with a DE, WR, or OL transfer in as well Would also be ok with taking another cruit DB
Preferably a corner at this point. A receiver with some receptions is next for me. Too bad they couldn't get Ovie to do the same, but while the depth would be good, Foskey has WDE locked down and my guess is the crazed pineapple will be tough to keep off the field moving forward. They probably need SDE more.
is this the most important guy to land in the 2022 class? considering need, he's got to be at least in the top 5 Spoiler St. Louis (Mo.) Lutheran North four-star cornerback Toriano Pride is one of the more coveted prospects in the class of 2022. Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma and many others are pushing to land the 5-11, 175-pounder. As of late, it seemed the Fighting Irish were slipping in the pursuit of Pride, but with a two-headed monster in defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman and cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens now teaming up to recruit him, Notre Dame has a shot. "It went well,” said Pride of his first talk with Freeman. “I got to know him a little bit and his coaching history. He came from Cincinnati. He said that Notre Dame just needs somebody to come in and switch the program around. He said that's why he's recruiting me. He really just came off well and gave a good first impression. I can't really say too much about how he is. I don't know him too much and we're still building that relationship, but he seems like pretty good guy." Personality-wise, Pride quickly noticed some similarities between Freeman and Mickens. "Yeah, he seems a lot like coach Mickens," said Pride, with a laugh. "I've always talked with coach Mickens. Things are good there. I talked to him at least twice a week. We talk a lot. We stay in touch. He told me that him and coach Freeman have been friends for a really long time." Notre Dame has what Pride is looking for in a school. It also doesn’t hurt that there would be an opportunity for him to come and compete for early playing time in year one. "It's good football and education,” said Pride, when asked what appeals about Notre Dame. “Then after football, they are really high on that." Notre Dame has a few others helping in its pursuit of this talented defensive back. Running back Kyren Williams and Pride go way back, as do new four-star defensive end commit Tyson Ford. "It made me happy just watching him,” said Pride, when asked about Williams having a huge season at Notre Dame. “I was happy for him. I was very happy for him. "We played little league together. I've known him since I was a real young kid,” added Pride of Ford. “We played little league. We went to different high schools. We haven't talked in a minute though, but we have a good relationship. We train together and stuff." Regarding a final decision, one could be coming in the next few months. He’s hoping the dead period end in April, so he can take some visits. If that happens, a commitment could come shortly thereafter. 1COMMENTS "My plan is to narrow things down after Apr. 15 when I'm able to take visits," said Pride. "I think I'll probably decide before my senior year, because I don't want to wait too long. Probably the month after April or probably April. I really don't know yet." Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Pride is the No. 240 overall player in the country, No. 27 cornerback nationally and No. 5 prospect in Missouri from the class of 2022.
Safeties coach update Spoiler Former Notre Dame safeties coach Terry Joseph is now working at the University of Texas. The Fighting Irish have been looking to replace him over the last week or so and Irish Illustrated has the latest on where things stand. According to our sources, two in-house interviews have taken place. We initially reported Notre Dame would focus their attention first on those currently on staff in South Bend and then potentially broaden the search outside of the staff. From what we’re told, both defensive assistant coach Kerry Cooks, as well as graduate assistant and outside linebackers coach Chris O’Leary have interviewed for the position to be the next safeties coach at Notre Dame. Cooks joined the Notre Dame staff again ahead of last season. He arrived after working as the safeties coach at Texas Tech for a year. Before that, he was the defensive backs coach at Oklahoma for four years. From 2010-15, Cooks was the secondary coach at Notre Dame and even spent some time as the co-defensive coordinator. Cooks was at Wisconsin as an assistant coach from 2005-10, in a similar role at Minnesota during the year before that, coached in the secondary at Western Illinois from 2003-04 and was a graduate assistant at Kansas State from 2002-03. O’Leary was promoted to outside linebackers coach in Feb. 2020 and was in that position for the past year. He was a senior defensive analyst at Notre Dame for two years prior to that. He worked for a year as the safeties coach at Florida Tech prior to that, and was a graduate assistant at Georgia State from 2015-17. O’Leary is a 2015 graduate of Indiana State University. 1COMMENTS Obviously everyone knows about Cooks as a recruiter and he has had success at every stop over his career, but O’Leary has actually done some recruiting during his time at Notre Dame as well. Back in Jan. 2020, while Notre Dame had an opening on staff, Irish Illustrated reported that O’Leary actually hit the road to do some recruiting for the Fighting Irish. He was in Southern California and checked in on some top target in the class of 2021. He stopped by Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola high school to check in on four-star cornerback Ceyair Wright, La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat high school to gather information on three-star cornerback Dyson McCutcheon, was at Downey (Calif.) Warren high school to touch base on the latest with four-star defensive back Xamarion Gordon, and others. In addition, he was at Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany high school, which is home to recent Notre Dame offer Niuafe Tuihalamaka, a class of 2022 recruit committed to USC, who was just offered by Notre Dame this week. We’ll see what happens in the near future, but that’s the latest with this coaching search. Stay locked to Irish Illustrated, as we continue to bring as many updates as possible.
Yea there is some high end skill talent in the midwest this cycle- ND needs to get a couple of them. OSU will get theirs, but can't lose guys to Michigan, Missouri, etc this cycle from the Midwest
As a position where we need somebody of that caliber? Yes. But I won't say he, specifically, is THE most important, yet. It sounds like the staff is starting to get aggressive with offers to top players, so we could see the net widen for potential CBs. They need at least one very good one, though, and he'd do.
I think a top level CB is the #1 need right now in 2022 followed by a Top Safety and then a top Vyper
I believe i've found Tremble's spirit animal. Guy looks to love blocking https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2022/elijah-brown-172478
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2022/aamil-wagner-268211 Would also love to see this guy in blue and gold. His brother (i believe) went to Iowa for basketball out of HS and ended up at UK playing WR. This kid is an animal.
