Yikes Dykes. Why not just make a run at Skip Holtz while you're at it. Or, heck, go get Bobby Petrino for a song.
Auburn is probably the only one he has truly turned down. He really wanted the GT job. Maybe UCF too. Dont think he had a lot of interest in Memphis.
Feels like Gus Malzahn with a guaranteed four year contract. That should get him a two-year pass during the sanction period, and two years to dick around and maybe steal a win vs Georgia to lock up a six year extension.
New coach is going to certainly have his work cut out for him with that roster if none of these portal guys come back
This is exactly what I would say if I were freaking out over the mass exodus of my favorite team’s starters. At the same time, you’re right.
with the 25 man cap per class a mass exodus is beyond detrimental. They need to allow new coaches to sign as many players extra as enter the portal in the 12 months after a coach leaves. The 25 rule to make sure saban doesn’t oversign each year has its place but they need to give a break for new coaches.
We did this for Butch and it didn't work. I think it's about time Bama makes a sacrifice for the good of CFB.
Gus has the "I have beaten Saban at Alabama more than every coach in Tennessee history combined" stat on his resume.
lol tenn deserves this for self reporting and firing their coach after signing day. do a normal coaching search and the roster turnover would be relatively minor. nuke your program and of course anyone who is desirable will leave
The top Tennessee insider on vols247 who called Pruitt gone a month before it happened just said that Tony Elliott turned down the job and they are resetting their search.
Get Chadwell and call it a day. He has resurrected dumps and one of the few quality coaches that wants to be there.
They don’t. Selfishly I want him to go and kick Carolina’s ass because they thought they were above him.
247 Here’s the latest from Anna Hickey of our Clemson site on Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott’s involvement in the Tennessee search: My latest intel suggests that White is continuing to vet candidates and Elliott hasn't been offered anything. It’s a waiting game right now, per a source. I know that's vague but that's where we're at right now in a search that's being kept close to the vest.
Coastal, our alma mater, is a stepping stone school. Very attractive to up and coming coaches, much like App.
Oh man if there's a program that refuses to accept its place today is not its place thirty years ago it's Nebraska. I am ready for a new Nebraska coaching search.
He just received a raise to 1.2 million and more than likely gets offered a hc job after next year. Not sure why he would entertain jumping to Tennessee. Ole Miss at least has offensive weapons to play with. Edit: Don’t know what the buyout for him would be. But according to our AD - “I think that was important. I certainly feel like the buyout we have in the contract is healthy. As you look across our conference and look at some of the averages, I think that we're in a really good spot.”
Not to outdo 247, but I'll break the news here first: I turned the Vols coaching job down too. Not enough guaranteed money or years to overcome the NCAA sanctions they'll be hit with.
