Not a jumbo. I did it through better.com. Whole process was so easy and cost us nothing out of pocket for it with the lender credits we got. We didn't even need an appraisal because they said our house was worth at least 25% more than we bought for 18 months ago and we weren't cashing out any equity.
The wife wanted to build a home badly also and would not stop talking about it the past year. I was pretty hesitant on it. We just signed a purchase agreement last week and picked the exterior. Process hasn't been too bad yet. Trying to find the perfect lot was tough. Looking at a bunch of open houses of new builds from different companies was actually pretty cool. Next week we will pick interior items and should have layout finalized. After that, it just feels like we will be sitting and waiting for it to get completed. Few steps in between, but not much. I've enjoyed most of it so far.
Just locked in at 2.5% for a 20-yr Knocking 5 years off the back end, and $200/mo lower payments whee
Sadly, 4.625%. We did a painful refi in 2015 when the business was still digging out from under the recession, because we had a heloc reverting from draw to payment phase and we wanted to bundle it together with the first mortgage. Made for a less desirable rate I remember getting 7.75% in 1998 when we bought a townhouse in LA and thinking it was a deal
If any of y'all ever want a quote on a rate, I'm happy to give you one so just PM me and ask. I am only licensed to lend in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina currently but can give anyone a quote you can use to shop around or I can just put you directly in touch with someone that does lend in your respective state and should be able to match the rate I've quoted for you. Thank you and goodnight.
Fuck appliances, especially LG ones. Woke up yesterday to my wife telling me that all the burners and the oven aren't heating up. 2nd time in less than 2 years this piece of shit has needed repairs.
Sort of off topic but this seems like the best place to ask. My Dad and his brothers and sisters are trying to keep a closer eye on my Grandpa. 85 years old, lives at home alone, some minor dementia. Apparently tonight he wasn't answering his phone and they were worried he may have left the house or had fell or something. They want to set up some cameras in his house to be able to see what he's up to and make sure that he's safe. A little screwed up but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I guess if it means it will help him be safe at home. What's the best camera/app combo for him and his brothers and sisters to be able to pull up their cell phones and get a live look at what's happening in the house?
Wyze now has a bunch of $20 cameras which are apparently fantastic. Apparently they are the third generation. It’s water resistant and has pretty decent night viewing. I bought one of the V2 for a baby monitor and I love it. I would buy a bunch of those and you can drop them in the common areas with his permission and you should be good to go.
really unfortunate situation man. Some apps only allow viewing live, some include recording and viewing later. You might prefer the second, to see if he goes out the front door etc. We have Nest and pay for 24/7 recording but there are tons of options that are also good. I would have no issue recommending Ring as well.
Wyze is a great hardware company. Since I haven't used it before. I'm not familiar with their cloud and remote streaming. Can jacob palmer's family members easily access via an app on their phones?
Yea and I really am a fan of the fact you can share individual cameras with specific people. So if you want you can only share interior cameras with the family, but maybe a camera in the garage on his vehicle could be accessed by extended family. Each person has their own account so no need to share user names or passwords. All the devices can take a simple SD card as well if you want local recordings. As I said I was really impressed for what I got when I dropped like $50 for two cameras.
I have not. Guess I should try that. When I last went to use it it wasn’t holding a charge. Looked at some online troubleshooting and figured it was the battery then I just moved on with my day.
fuck Dyson. Those batteries suck. We went through two stick vacuums and the batteries suck and no matter how often you clean them, they smell like shit after a while. We switched to shark and it's much better so far
My in laws just looked at a house for sale in our neighborhood even though my wife nicely told them a month ago that was waaaaaaaaaayyy too close
Ordered our CAFE appliances back in October Just got a confirmed delivery date today of April 10th Our closing date in April 7th- pretty wild this barely worked out with that much time given.
Dfw housing market is nuts. There is no inventory at all. We finally found a place with a perfect floorplan. Got the inspection and it needs $60k in plumbing, new drains, and will need 2 new furnaces, AC units, and water heaters.
I’m embarrassed to say how much my next door neighbor got for his house. Had four offers above asking within 48 hours of list. And my house is bigger than his. It made me think about listing ours and downsizing a little but one look at what was out there made me shut that idea down with the quickness.
Should be putting our old house on the market this weekend. Hoping it flies like every other house around.
I’m looking into this too. Did you look at the VA IRRL program? Or did you just go with a regular VA refi?
Just a standard VA. I have a local guy that's been great, but he was being slow as hell. Actually just said F it one day, ran my stuff through Rocketmortgage to see what the numbers would look like and almost fell out of my chair. All in all, from application to close in about 3 weeks.
We met with the land owner who is also the custom home builder to look at the property and some of the houses he's built in the area. The ideal property is all sold and we are looking at the last undeveloped acre on the ridgeline. I had some plans of trying to negotiating on the land price. In the hour we were there 5 groups randomly came up to ask who owned the land and if it was for sale. Long and short we are not negotiating any longer.
