I’ve been watching a doc about the build up to WW2. In it they talked a lot about Hitler “appeasing” everyone by agreeing to deals knowing full well that he’ll back out of them as soon as it suits him. It made me crack up when the narrator would say “and those on the other end of the agreement would be “shocked” every time it happened” Can’t help but see those parallels with today’s Republican Party.
