there is another thread on the mainboard. can we decide on one thread. also conor murray gonna rape USA
Haven't been on much, but Wales winning and The Fucking French getting booed at home was about as good as sports get for me.
This has been posted a couple times in the Swansea and PL threads but thought it would entice some Rugby conversation. So I know its kind of lame but today I wore my Swansea shirt out to a local pub. There were about 8 English gentlemen. Half from Essex the other from Bromley. They picked out my Swansea shirt quickly and we talked about the season and the success. All of them but two were Chelsea supporters the other two didn't care for soccer but Rugby was their choice. Commented on the Ospreys which thankfully I've learned about and seen on TV. It was a crazy experiences actually talking to people who were at the match when Chelsea won the league and that knew what they we're talking about. They certainly were shocked to see an American Swan. One of the best chats I have had with strangers and was awesome to hear that they all said they were cheering for the US in the world cup and were disappointed to see us lose but so excited about the game. They all agreed that if the US put effort into Rugby they would be the beat in the world and quickly. However thought soccer was about 12-16 years away depending on how many Americans play in euro leagues. They were pretty down on MLS but agreed Gerrard and Lampard and Keane etc made it easier for Americans to relate to what British and others in Europe related to. Overall just an awesome few hours talking to strangers. Tldr- H/T hangs out with the British.
The problem with wearing rugby jerseys out in America is that you're most likely to run into a drunk meat head who played a couple years in college or plays for some d3 team, and by plays I mean they got drunk at games and claim they were almost an All American. Every once in a while you actually find someone who knows what they're talking about, or can actually name more than 2 players on the national team. I was actually going to start a thread on rugby again since we lost most of the others. There is a lot going on this year. The US jus won their first cup final at the London 7's, and we did it by literally raping England at home and Australia in the final. The US 15's team plays the Harlequins in Philly and Australia in Chicago. The NRFL Rough Riders, Americas first pro team, is playing Leicester in Philly. The Saracens are playing the Crusaders in New Orleans. To top it all off we have the freakin World Cup this year.
The Rugby Championship began yesterday. The All Blacks beat Argentina as expected. Great ending to Australia-South Africa this morning, Mat Giteau making his return to international rugby for the first time in 4 years after Australia changed their eligibility rules allowing veteran overseas players to play for the Wallabies
Not sure ppl here still care or follow rugby but ESPN+ has the New Zealand v Australia series (Bledisloe Cup) First match is on demand next one is tonight.
Didn’t realise that ESPN has those rights. I usually get to watch Leinster hammering teams weekly in the stadium.
Six Nations on Peacock. France is so fun to watch. Scotland putting pressure on England @ Twickenham so far but has done poorly to only have 8 points.
Scotland Wales was v entertaining. The Welsh have been lucky so far with sendings off but you can only play the conditions you get.
yeah, that was fantastic. France v Ireland has been more even than I expected - Burns at 10 has been the difference for Ireland imo.
