I'm a bigger man than to comment on the empty seats and will instead focus on this being a great gif #integrity
I thought it was going to be hard to transition over. But canucks are ass and I’m fully ready for a Seattle team to suck this hard.
I won’t bother posting the story because it’s so long but apparently the Coyotes new owner is a maniac that has employees complaining to the league about the work environment. They are also in worse financial shape than everyone has been led to believe.
True or false The Coyotes are still playing in Arizona come 2025. Bonus question If they relocate it will be to: My answers: 1. False 2. Houston
If the league decided to keep the Canadian division, I think Quebec becomes the leader to help even out the divisions. I don’t think that’s terribly likely but nothing would shock me with this league.
Sure. But I’m against moving one warm weather team to another warm weather city. Just my personal opinion. I’m sure you are right given the size of the Houston market.
My heart is warm knowing some young children in Houston are lacing up their skates to play on their outdoor rink today, as they do each winter.
It's not about warm or cold markets - it's about teams that win and teams that historically suck. Put a winning team in any major city and they'll draw.
I'll say Houston because A - It makes sense market wise B - I can still hold onto my dream of the Blues finally buying an AHL franchise, putting it in KC so they dont need to partner w an affiliate 1200 miles away
No Hartford Spoiler Should be Quebec City but I'm sure it'll be to some warm weather market they'll eventually move out of again. Going to be a lot of upset Canucks/Oilers/Flames/Jets fans if they leave. It's dirt cheap to fly down here and the tickets are much less expensive than going to a home game. Hard to imagine them staying here without moving to a more centrally located arena. I refuse to go to games unless the Rangers are in town because it's out in the middle of nowhere and a pain in the ass to get to from virtually all parts of the valley.
Moving Phoenix to Houston makes sense from a tv perspective. Is Austin an option?? Only way a team goes into Quebec City is if the league goes to 36 teams.
Quebec has the GDP of a random city in Montana. The only reason they get mentioned as a potential destination is because they previously had a team.
Re-reading that Coyotes article and this is too good not to share In an email distributed shortly after Armstrong took over as GM, hockey operations employees were warned that “unauthorized distribution of any club information will not be permitted and is grounds for disciplinary action, up to immediate termination.” In that email, which was obtained by The Athletic, employees were asked to sign an acknowledgment form consenting to these terms. (“I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of something like that,” said one longtime executive with over 30 years of NHL experience.) In November, agitated that organizational information had been obtained by The Athletic, Armstrong contacted this reporter, offering a theory that his daily schedule and other files had been stolen from his computer. He warned that the person who he surmised was responsible would be going to jail. After delivering a lecture on journalism ethics, Armstrong asked this reporter what she thought would happen if he were to tell general managers around the league how she did her job.
And they would still have a better attendance and would make more money than the panthers and coyotes...
better attendance? definitely. Make more money? unlikely considering the corporate sponsorship money would be almost non-existent.
If it’s a Covid risk I would immediately fire Tippett for getting two feet from the guy to tell him to get off the ice.
the corporate part is the real issue but they would definitely get some pretty interesting deals. Surely enough to get better money than Florida and Arizona but they are not competing against these shitty franchises, they are competing against bigger markets like Houston now. we missed our shot
Obviously biased, but with a semblance of decent ownership and management the team could’ve had a real chance. The fact that Atlanta United has been so successful on the field and off of it showed what competent leadership looks like.
Currently tied for third fewest points in the league with two games in hand on the team with the second fewest
