I think if anyone could fix Wentz its Frank Reich behind that mammoth OL of the Colts good deal for both teams
Frank Reich is a really good coach and all, but even he can’t convince himself he can salvage Carson Wentz if he’s honest with himself. The colts had the unfortunate timing of having a little window open up with a good roster yet end up in QB purgatory because Luck retired. I would almost feel bad for them if not for them having decades of god tier QB play by transitioning right from Peyton to Luck.
it wasn’t going to happen with the Eagles do I’m happy they moved on, but I don’t understand people thinking there’s no way Wentz can be fixed.
also good for the Colts GM not giving in. wonder how much Wentz killed the Eagles leverage with Chicago.
May not work out, but as a Colts fan I would be pleased and open to it. They going to roll with Eason? Brissett? Wentz has shown success. Could be wrong, but I think last season in Philly was mix of him, coaching and the team and he’ll have some success in Indy.
Not the Saints could have pulled it off, but I have would been pleased if he would have been traded to the Saints.
Some of the dead money numbers around the league next year are incredible. Especially in a season where the cap is going to drop as much as it's expected to.
Fixed into what exactly? I'm legitimately asking because I haven't watched him much obviously, but it seems like he's had one good (shortened) season 4 years ago. I'm not trashing the move by any means, I think it makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure it really changes the picture in the AFC South though, other than making the Titans a stronger favorite.
Wentz is broken. Darnold would have been cheaper and would still be salvageable with Indy's O-line/running game
I may be off, but I would put his 2019 season as top 10. Especially with his supporting cast. Not like Philly was loaded then.
He could be. Neither of these two are sure things which is why they're available to begin with but as I said before he'd cost less and many of his struggles are a direct result of playing with almost no talent around him & the god awful coaching situation in New York. Neither of them move the needle much but Wentz seems both mentally and physically fragile at this point.
I yearn for the day where the Colts waste a high draft pick on a bum like Locker or Mariota and have to endure a stretch of multiple seasons with piss poor QB play and no playoff hopes I'm such a hater
