I love Fitz but we have to move on from him. Can't have a weird dynamic where everyone is looking at Fitz every time Tua doesn't light the world on fire if you plan to let him develop. Jakeem Grant is an obvious cut. We save like $4M I think.
I think he provides enough value that you hold on to him. It's also only a 2.8 million savings to cut him because of dead cap space. Albert Wilson and Allen Hurns will almost certainly get cut. The reality is that this team doesn't really have a bloated contract that can be shed right now. They are still in a good spot going into free agency but can't go out and sign a bunch of big deals like they did last year.
So not sure if everyone saw, but the latest mock from The Athletic has us trading with the Panthers as well, getting their first this year and next year along with a third and fifth this year. It has us taking devonta at 8. It also has us trading our second pick with the Steelers for theirs, plus a third and a sixth and then taking Zaven Collins. Thoughts?
I'd only be down with that it we used that ammo to trade up with one of the 2s. We really don't need two more 3s this year. Only so many rookies you can reasonably roster.
Yea, I don't get that trade. They have more than enough quantity at this point. The only point to trading down from pick 3 is to get another 1st round pick. those early picks in the 2nd round are gold. No reason to trade down from there unless someone is offering a 2022 1st rounder.
Dolphins Aiming To Add Multiple WRs February 16th, 2021 at 8:52am CST • By Sam Robinson The Dolphins have DeVante Parker signed long-term, but they appear set to devote free agency funds and/or draft capital to addressing their other wide receiver spots. In addition to seeking help opposite Parker on the boundary, the Dolphins believe they need to upgrade in the slot as well, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald notes. The franchise plans to address both positions, be it in free agency or the draft. With several receivers set to be available in unrestricted free agency and other pass catchers on the cap-casualty radar, this is a good year to need help at this position. Prior to the franchise tag deadline, the receiver market is set to include Chris Godwin, Allen Robinson, Will Fuller, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones, T.Y. Hilton, Corey Davis, Antonio Brown, Curtis Samuel, Nelson Agholor, Sammy Watkins and A.J. Green. Potential cap casualties, like the Jets’ Jamison Crowder or Bills’ John Brown, may join this list and further create a buyer’s market for receiver-needy teams. While most of this group’s futures remain uncertain, the Buccaneers are not planning to let Godwin become available. Though, Tampa Bay has several high-profile free agents of note. Multiple players in this group already have interest in Miami, per Jackson, who adds that Jones and Hilton have the Dolphins on their respective radars. (The Jaguars are also on Jones’ radar, according to Jackson.) While both Jones and Hilton are over 30, neither’s price should be expected to approach the high-end WR1 ranks. The Dolphins currently sit eighth in cap space, though other receiver-needy teams — like the Jaguars, Colts, Jets and Patriots — reside on a higher tier in terms of offseason funds. The Dolphins currently hold two first-round picks (Nos. 3 and 18) and two second-rounders (Nos. 36 and 50). With another strong receiver class set to enter the league, the team would be well positioned to address either its slot or boundary needs here. Though, the Texans making Deshaun Watson available could change the Dolphins’ draft outlook. Miami resides at or near the top of the disgruntled quarterback’s destination list. But whoever the Dolphins slot at quarterback next season should have a better arsenal to target.
Worth the cash to have an elite kicker. Being confident that reaching the 35 yard line is an automatic 3 points barring a turnover is a good feeling.
love Harris but taking a RB that high is proven to be not great if you’re trying to build. If you’re proven and get a RB that high then fine but too many needs to go for a low yield pick at that position give me OL/WR or OL/LB or even WR/WR
I tell you what if we get chase and then smith is going somewhere between 12-15 Trade up and let’s get em both baby LFG!
Using a first rounder to draft a running back is stupid and I’d be disappointed if the dolphins did that
im ok with it if a) it's an elite talent and b) you have another first rounder. Both could be true this year. But mostly I agree not taking RBs too high. We just need skill players so f'n badly.
Trade down from 3 to 8 for carolina's 2nd and a 1st next year. take a WR at 8. Pass rusher at 18. Trade 2.3 and a 3rd for a late 1st to take RB.
I’m firmly trade down from pick 3 as my top option. I’d like to get Harris but 18 feels rich. I really want to come away from this draft with a top C prospect- ideally creed
3-6 with Philly and got 3 picks in 21, 1 and 2 2nds in 22 6-9 with Den2 picks in 21 1/2 in 22 18-? To Cleveland for 1 in 21 and 22 ? - ? To Buffalo for 1 in 21 and 22 ? - 32 to Tampa for 1 in 21 and 22
I did the opposite and cashed in nexts years picks to get 3 top 10 picks this year and went Sewell Chase Smith YOLO
Is this a “talk to my lawyer about this bullshit” or a “I’m not going to incriminate myself” kind of interview dodging?
I don't understand this one at all. They have more than enough draft capital to use a pick on a RB. It's not a position you give a big 2nd contract to unless it is a truly elite player. Jones aint it.
Considering how little info has gotten out since Grier/Flores took over, every article linking us to players seems made up
The first sentence says a league source...not even a team source. Green Bay Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones has the Dolphins among teams he’s willing to consider. And the interest is mutual, according to a league source.
multiple second rounders and other players? tf? OBJ only got a 1 and a 3 and he was a top 5 WR at the time why would we do that when there are comparable FA WRs that cost similar $ and don't require picks Grier and Co. are good at smokescreens but it becomes annoying for us fans this time of year
I'm ok with it. He had a pretty good year, but Van Ginkel looks ready. A tad bit shocked he didn't get at least 1 more year, but I think the money can be better spent elsewhere. On PFF Van Ginkel was the 12th rated EDGE player in the NFL... wow. Very similar player to Van Noy, struggles when asked to cover but good pass rusher... beat him in all grades. I think this move says more about what they think about Van Ginkel than it does about Van Noy.
If the cap didn’t go down by 20 million, he stays. But the ability to cut him with no dead cap made it a no-brainer imo.
