I’d probably take Trubisky back over those 2, just for the fact he’s younger and better physical attributes.
Can we move this team like the Browns and start over in 2 years? This will make the Rick Mirer trade seem like a good move...
2 1st is ridiculous. I’d quietly accept a 1 as this coaching staff and GM are going to go balls out for this year anyway. We aren’t winning with the muck we have so better to roll the dice. If he sucks, we can get him out in 2 years anyway
Giving up a 1st and locking up the next 2 years (I think it’s just 1) for a QB who was worse than Trubisky last year isn’t a good idea. Add on that we’re having Nagy develop him and he’s never shown an inkling of developing a QB in his 3 years here. Nothing about this seems like a good “roll of the dice”
I agree but it is what it is. I’d prefer lots of other things to use it for. We are going into a year now where this sees a big improvement or we go for a rebuild imo. Nagy and Pace aren’t going to go for a QB in the draft given their position and where we’re sitting. Anything over 1 1st and I’ll be pissed.
The Eagles should be paying us to take on Wentz. Let's be honest here. If Wentz is worth 2 firsts I guess Watson is worth 5
Looking through Wentz’s number. If he is traded before March 15th the Bears will be on the hook for $25 Mill of his contract, Philly $33 million this year. The Bears can cut him after this year and free up $6 mill in cap space for the 2022 season but will have $25 million of dead cap space if they chose to go this route.
You wish it could be that easy, we’ll slowly start to think Wentz maybe will get back to his MVP caliber season, watch every game, bitch in this thread when we go 7-9, and be right back here this time next year
I would find it fucking amazing if Pace found the solution was to give up major draft capital in having to fix Carson Wentz, while having zero conviction in his original scouting reasoning in Mitch. That admission alone should be grounds firing. I'd have more respect for him if he just dug his heals in.
I like to wonder if N.E. won that 85 super bowl if a young impressionable Jimmy Mac wouldn’t have become a fan of the pats? The last 35 years would have been a lot more fun to follow.
The Cohen and Foles part of it doesn’t make sense. Foles is on a very good contract for a back up QB and Philly doesn’t have the cap space to pay a player like Cohen. I think if they do a deal for Wentz it’s gonna be a draft pick and Daniels.
I find it hard to imagine that the organisation would authorise anything beyond this year’s draft in terms of picks. I accept this year’s 1 as it is what it is. Pace and Nagy need to win this year so are going to be aggressive with the draft capital this year whatever way we cut it. Anymore picks than this year would be insanity for an organisation. We could carry Wentz’s cap hit for 2022 if we end up on a rebuild.
I also can't imagine we were offering 2 firsts, considering the deal was for a 3rd and a conditional 2nd that could be a 1st.
Ruining a seasoned veteran would definitely be quite the feat for the Bears, but I definitely think they could pull it off.
I’ve got a feeling we’re getting one of Watson or Wilson. We’re going to pay a kings ransom but I think it’s gonna happen....
They’d be the best QB Chicago ever had without throwing a pass. I’m fine with a King’s Ransom. I want a franchise QB
Pace has had more success with mid round picks vs top tier picks in his run. I'm fine going all in on Russ or Watson.
We redo Hicks and Fullers contract and it’ll save even more. I was hoping the Bears delaying the cap space was them trying to make a move for Russ or Watson, I guess we’re in this for the long haul now...
