Still seems silly that Jose claimed Bale wasn't fit or ready for better than half a season.

 

I hear what you are saying, but except for playing total minnows, he did look pretty shitty every time he got the chance. There was no speed, he didn’t track back, his finishing was poor, and the creativity really started showing up the last few weeks. I personally thought he may be done, but the last couple of weeks has been worth it. Bale was my first favorite player.

I love watching this stuff and realizing that so many of these guys are still kids just having fun playing the game. I also want to show this to every fucking parent who thinks they know everything when their kids are 9 years old and think the kids should be learning positions and practicing full field game strategy in the 60-90 minutes of practice time that they have two or three times per week. As the former President of a Soccer Club and coach I can't tell you how many geniuses who all "played in college" used to argue this is the reason their kids weren't getting trained at age 7, 8, 9. I finally didn't run for another seat on my soccer club board a few weeks ago after 10 years. I am so relieved to not have to deal with that any more.

 

I don’t see Bale or Kane at all in there which I’m taking as a good sign that they’re not traveling playing tomorrow.
