If you didn't actually know, Kyle Snyder was recently considered the #1 P4P wrestler in the world (2017-2018). He won 3 consecutive golds (2 world and 1 olympic) before losing in 2018 in the finals to Sadulaev, who regained his P4P title from Snyder with the win. Since then Snyder moved to NLWC and has taken a few losses, most notably to Sharif Sharipov at 2019 Worlds. He also lost to Mohammadian at last year's Pellicone, which was a head scratcher. I don't think he's really fallen off. Snyder has always taken losses--what makes him so great is that he rarely loses to the same guy twice. Once he gets his hands on someone he adapts and finds a way to beat them. Gatsalov and Sadulaev have beaten him twice but can make an argument as the two best wrestlers of the 21st century. He'll be fine. Will he beat Cox? Who knows. But nothing "happened" to Snyder. He had a disastrous result at 2019 worlds and still won bronze. He's still one of the best in the nation and world.
I screencapped that from Flowrestling and don't have access to their rankings from what I can tell I hope Tariq Wilson wins 141
Would have to assume Seabass is #1 above Eierman and Lee. Three above Brooks would have to be Trent Hidlay and Hunter Bolen...probably Louie Deprez as the 3rd.
hooooo boy. Mark Hall dominates Myles Martin. Did NOT see that coming. Wins by fall. That is a major statement at 86kg nationally.
Mark Hall's win over Myles Martin was a huge statement. Obviously he at least wants to show that he's striking range of Zahid, but that trip is worth it for what he did to Myles alone. Myles was considered the #3 guy domestically behind DT and Zahid. Now Mark Hall is in the conversation with Bo, Dieringer, Hidlay, Gabe Dean, etc.
I thought the same. Believe PIAA just uses national rules which is returning to the mat with "unnecessary force" I don't think it was unnecessary. Just hit that double hard as hell and that was the end result
I watched it probably 10x now and I still can't see how you call it. He landed on his upper back/shoulder and the kid was too slow to react to position himself better on landing
This #2 seed @ 167 Hall from WVU is pretty impressive Hayden Hastings with a fall to put himself in the consolation finals at 174. Pokes Pokes Pokes
Burroughs-Chamize V coming here up shortly. Chamizo almost never fails to entertain, then Zahid-Hall for the 2nd time on the freestyle scene
Chamizo with some seriously world class hip strength and defense, Burroughs really never got close to scoring
JB had some really good feints and was getting chamizo to bite on them in the 2nd period, but after he changed levels he'd go to his knees looking to blast through from there. In the past this has worked for him, but Chamizo was just shoving Jordan's upper body and getting him off balance. He even scored a point off it when JB was on the shot clock in the 2nd.
That was impressive to say the least from Zahid. 11-0 first period tech. A stepout, 4 takedowns, and a gut.
86kg is such a bizarre weight, it's distribution of talent is like 60% Russian, 39% American and 1% Yazdani... Like, Zahid could easily be a top 3 guy in the world but feels like he's got about 2% chance to get past David Taylor.
There's just nobody from Turkey, Cuba, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, or any other former Soviet Republic with even a remote chance at making the World Finals. Unless there's a stupid draw the Olympic finals are going to be USA/RUS/Yazdani combo
Russia has like 5-6 guys who could make a deep run at Olympic Gold. Obviously they can only send 1. But there's always a chance one of them transfers, as is the rumor with Tsabolov at 74kg. He does and the Big Three at 74kg instantly becomes the Big Four. Kurugliev always seems to be the lost guy for Russia. Now it's thought that it could finally be his turn. If he's not the guy, I could definitely see him transferring for the chance at gold.
We're gonna lose the team title by a few points to OSU tonight and damn is it gonna hurt. Would be our first since 2002, but we're giving up bonus points at 33 and probably 49 to OSU. Demas beating Parker is our only possible chance. Either way, nice to see Roselli has us going in the right direction.
