Since Arkansas has opened up our third phase I’m now eligible. All places are booked up for the next couple weeks locally, but there is a mass drive thru clinic an hour away tomorrow.
Im so glad I don't work retail pharmacy right now. Be nice to your pharmacy staff, they like got no extra help to do these shots besides the guy that does the sign ups.
It was for this reason I didn't think my pharmacy (Publix) would call me after I made an appointment to ask me a whole bunch of follow up questions. I just thought they'd just fulfill it and power through but my Publix apparently assigned someone to call everyone to ask them follow ups. They ended up cancelling my appointment. (I didn't lie. I said I was just had health concerns but didn't have a Doctor's note but was hoping to show up and talk them into it or they wouldn't care)
Publix does a have central pharmacy that will do a lot of this stuff. It may have been your pharmacy because they used to make us do follow up calls on kids antibiotics but that was like 3 or 4 a day not 25 to 50 shots. Haven't worked for them for 5 years or so now so I'm sure things have changed.
Thanks for the response. Needless to say I find the IP angle pretty problematic, but I don't know what to do about it either.
I probably shouldn't identify that as my sticking (hah) point, scratch that - conflates issues. Basically the outcome whereby appeasing shareholders means other populations are denied access to vaccines is where I struggle.
i don't see anyone being denied access. in fact, vaccine access is incredibly high globally. it's probably the single highest access medicine on our planet regardless of ability to afford.
Super excited that I become eligible in Ohio on Friday. But, also pretty nervous that J&J may be all that is left by the time I can get an appointment
no reason to be nervous of that, as it is highly effective and safe. congrats on the coming immunity.
It is disappointing to me since there are more effective vaccines. Of course I'll take the high likelihood of protection against hospitalization and/or death, but wish it conferred the same level of protection against moderate disease as the mRNA jabs.
good news, it might! you can't compare results across different studies with different cohorts and on different timelines of mutation.
Why are you thinking J&J is the only option? I thought they actually had supply issues after their initial batch of vaccines. The other two companies are pumping them out still.
Our mass vaccination site in Cleveland is Pfizer for the first few weeks, then switches to J&J. I assumed (probably incorrectly) that it reflected projected vaccine inventory across the state. I managed to get an appointment next week at a local grocery store and am cautiously optimistic based on the verbiage in the email confirmation that it's the first of 2 doses.
I’m not 50 yet, but my wife got me an appointment today because she volunteers for the county and knew it was going over 40 on 3/19. They are scheduling any open appointments here, even if not over the age. I got Moderna at a Kroger pharmacy and already have the second shot schedule. I was impressed how smooth it went on wait time and they had a ton of people getting it while I was there.
Are you using the myvaccinegeorgia website? I used it and got my first shot Monday but now when I try to schedule a second dose it’s just telling me to pre-register and I can’t see any appointment availability. I feel real stupid.
I'm using this specific link I had, not sure if it's out of date https://myvaccinegeorgia.com/a/a6b12ef8ae5bba595482e18f64d9038f
thanks, that one has the buttons to schedule/ view appointments. Only saying first dose right now so maybe they will add second dose in the next week or so.
That's weird they didn't let you schedule your second dose that day, I thought that was the plan from here on out.
yeah, the only thing anybody said was to not wait until it’s time to get a second dose to schedule. “Schedule your next dose by Friday”. I didn’t ask how. I didn’t even think about it which I’m now kicking myself for. They seemed pretty focused on getting you in and out as quickly as possible.
Getting the JJ p much means you survived the pandemic and more than likely never even got very sick. That's huge imo
Well fuck, mass clinic is not for my group, but driving to Kroger in central Arkansas to get my shot on Thursday and already have my 2nd on scheduled 3 weeks after.
Yep. They're all really good at keeping you out of the hospital and out of the ICU. Take the first one that's offered to you.
Just got a text from a friend to go get my shot. On my way. Not sure which shot. What’s typical amount of time you feel crappy? Hour 8-24?
I was harassed a bit by national guard about how I knew the person running the site. 5 mins later they finally just radioed her and she told them to let me through. They seem pretty organized. This is a huge park with long roads. I wish I could see how long the line was in front of me. /update.
my sister-in-laws mom was denied the moderna vaccine in Florida because she had botox done a year ago after a stroke. would be super cool if they could of let her know what vaccine she was getting beforehand.
Question, assuming my wife’s sore throat and slight fever mean she’s likely be infected, can both her two parents who have had both rounds of moderna be around her relatively safely as long as they aren’t in turn out socializing? Should we keep them away? They’re our only source of childcare.
yeah, they should be in good shape from a protection standpoint from hospitalization and death, but yeah, don't let them think that they can't be infected at all. (and they should be >2weeks past second Moderna)
