Yep. At this point I don’t even really care about traveling or anything wild. Would just be nice to feel like I could go out to eat or watch some games with a couple friends without feeling completely careless. Not saying I haven’t done that a few times in the past year, but anytime I do I still feel a little weird about it, even if it’s something like seeing one friend in his basement, or eating on a spaced out patio etc.
This could create a lot of dominoes. If Texas does it, Florida will probably do it. Concerning as far as how few are taking the vaccine but at least people who want it can get it.
My manager just tested positive. My SIL (in Illinois not Ohio) just tested positive. Wife's co-worker called off for a sore throat.
One of my best friends is getting married in late May in a ceremony of around 100 people (kind of crazy) and is planning on a bachelor party for 12 guys in Scottsdale in mid-April (really crazy). Everyone is acting like there's no issues, "Covid is over!" and moving forward with the planning but I have no interest in doing something like this before vaccination. By mid-April I think there's a small chance I have one vaccination and no chance on full vaccination. Am I being too cautious sitting this out or are they being the crazy ones doing this now?
Attend the wedding as you’ll likely have both vaccines by then but I’d skip the Scottsdale thing. They are some beyond reckless morherfuckers in Scottsdale.
I’m missing a mid April wedding bc I won’t have my second shot. Even if I had both I’d still be hesitant until more people are vaccinated.
Have my wedding planned for mid-October and I am still worried/concerned. Of course other people are plowing ahead next month. With planning a bachelor party, I figured end of summer and somewhere outdoors (beach, Lake Tahoe) where we won't be bummed out that bars aren't open. But again, that is overly cautious as things will certainly be open then.
My cousin is getting married Memorial Day weekend. Pushed it back a full year last year. I’m in the same boat, hoping somehow someway I can get the vaccine in enough time. I don’t think I’ll have a choice about attending, and the grooms family will probably bring 50+ cases themselves. Going to be close/unlikely but we’ll see.
Scottsdale is a shitshow. Assume you’ll be in contact with COVID if you go. While you’d have some protection, it’s still definitely a risk.
I have a buddy in Austin who was in the Marines and is a web developer now. He tried to get vaccinated through the VA and they are denying him because he makes too much money (???). He hasn't elaborated any more on it, but is that common for something like vaccinations?
I don't know your friend, but "because he makes too much money" he can't get a vaccine at the VA pass the smell test to you?
Hey, here's an article I found! https://www.sun-sentinel.com/corona...0210121-6trareedxjfy5pgt7xgodhegri-story.html
So he can't get cost-free healthcare at the VA or he can't be treated at the VA at all if that's the case why did he even try? Can he pay for the vaccine, instead? Or does he have other insurance through his job? The way he says it and the news is reporting it is as if it's some war against rich people and vaccines are being funneled to poor people. No.
right, he just cannot get it at the VA. if he is otherwise eligible he can get it somewhere else. if he is not otherwise eligible other than being a vet, he cannot get it now.
I'm not a veteran, so I'm not 100% on other things, I'm just familiar with how they are handling the COVID vaccine administration. He cannot give them insurance or OOP for that. Someone more familiar with the VA would have to answer for other healthcare.
I was pretty pissed off and posted the question to the board because I know we have several Vets here hoping to get more information. I didn't suspect that this was even a remote possibility and was shocked when I found it easily on Google. He said he'll have to schedule things through the state like everyone else.
All Georgians are available for the vaccine starting this Thursday https://www.ajc.com/politics/all-ge...cines-on-thursday/S2TLG4G3CBDNJBUPPRROV5ROSI/
my wedding is planned for this July. We limited the number that will attend. A lot of people coming already have both vaccines and I’m still very nervous about it.
We moved our wedding from June to October, just to make sure everyone has plenty of time to get fully vaccinated. I'm still incredibly nervous about it, but we've already postponed twice.
Red states aren't getting vaccinations because they are red states. Just found out neighbor isn't getting as he will take his chances. He is a evangelical prepper, armed to the teeth,, teen daughter has a Trump flag on her wall. Note: he also has some strange health issues
The fuck happened to your post formatting Also the red state stereotype isn't holding true. ND is up to 35% with the first dose. Lots of people are getting it and they haven't opened up to the general public yet.
Complete bullshit. I won’t click that clickbait link but my VA dad makes 6 figures with retirement pension and SS income and was first in line in Florida in late Jan for his Pfizer vaccine. VA was giving it out without any income verification. If you were A qualified vet and over the 65 age limit, you qualified.
I mean if they open it up to anyone I'm sure appointments will get filled asap. The only options being go to the doctor to get the note thing or wait for unused doses is stupid at this point with appointments being vacant.
July wedding checking in. Will be telling people to fuck off if they don’t have the vaccine on the invitation but also nervous about having a large indoor wedding. At the same time, hoping it will be the biggest blackout fest anyone has ever seen, just a group catharsis
There will be a rush at first, but I’ve heard a lot of “oh I’m young and healthy” or “I’ll just wait I don’t need it”
This sounds fun. If an anti vaxxer opts out can I take their place? You don't have to feed me if that helps.
I had read multiple posts on Reddit saying they went to Iowa to get the vaccine because they are open to 16+ with conditions and also don’t have a requirement of being in-state. I look online just to see if something pops up last second which hasn’t been the case but randomly this morning they must have just refreshed their windows because there was a full day of openings next week. I signed up because I meet the BMI + have asthma. I’m debating calling them though to confirm there won’t be any issues/wasted time slot.
So you're calling my friend a liar as well because your dad got one? It's entirely possible not every single VA is doing things the exact same way as things are clearly not being run very smoothly.
Have Covid Antibodies from having had Covid a couple months back. Luckily a minor bout...had a mild cold for a couple days and wouldn't have got tested if not for being exposed from a friend who had it. 1st Shot of Pfizer Juice 3 weeks ago. 2nd Shot today at 12:50. North Dakota is also opening up vaccines to everyone on the 29th.
Texas is going to open up to everyone Monday so he's going to wait until then, he was having trouble finding appointments in the Austin area without driving way out of town and realized he could (or thought) go to the VA. This was his first and only experience at a VA in 20 years.
These variants are fucking everything up. Get shots in arms so we can minimize the evolution. Fucking hell.
